Hello Diana, to be honest I say its not worth shipping ( Don't tell my boss that I just said that!)
Yes you can buy transformers but sooner or later you are going to get fed up with having these heavy little boxes around the house. You are not going to want them in the kitchen tops for your toaster etc and don't want to be lugging the transformer around the house with your Hoover either!
I suggest though if you have a DVD collection and you don't have a multi system TV it might be worth shipping your TV & DVD player and using a transformer so you can still watch your UK collection of Faulty Towers and Downton Abbey etc rather than having to rent or buy them all again. It wont work with Canadian TV but you could hook it up in a spare room when you want to watch some Brit stuff!
Hope that helps, cheers and Happy Packing, The Moving Doctor,
PS let me know if you need a quote.

Hi,
I've been looking for this answer for a while. We, a family of four, will be moving from the UK to Canada. With respect to the differences in voltages and plug ins, is it worth shipping our electronics (TVs, stereo, laptop, small kitchen appliances, etc) and buying converters and transformers? Or is it better to just sell what we can and buy everything new when we get out there?

Thank you, in advance.
