Shipping USA to New Zealand Alert…..Stinky Problems!

We have just been informed of some changes with MPI / Quarantine in New Zealand. All containers from the USA effectively immediately cannot go direct to residence because of the risk of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug. Containers will need to be offloaded into a warehouse for quarantine inspection before the contents are delivered by moving van to the residence.

As from 1^st June 2015 all containers from anywhere in the world shipping to New Zealand will need to go via a warehouse and unloaded for quarantine clearance, so no containers direct to residence.

Because of the high risk of this specific insect MPI/Quarantine decided not to have a phase in period for the USA like the rest of the world.

As items will be unloaded from the container before delivery, it is very important everything is not only well packed but marked with piece number and your name.

Anyone moving to England, please note……
If you have an umbrella aka brolley in your shipment that you are moving across to London, England, UK or even anywhere in Europe, please take note.

HM Customs are now asking us to confirm with shippers, (meaning you if you are moving) that your umbrella does not contain a knife or sharp pointed end to it that can be used as a weapon.
Anyone writing umbrella on a packing list must write (no knife or no weapon) next to it.
We have just had a shipment delayed 7 days by customs due to this!

No Weapons in England please, unless you are James Bond or a naughty villain.

Moving To Dubai? Latest info on wire transfers

I found out today the hard way that if you order a wire transfer to the Middle East, you need to show the vendor invoice that you are paying otherwise they will not send the money. This obviously makes total sense for security reasons, it doesn’t however make sense that they failed to tell me this when I ordered the wire transfer so the order just sat there and my international moving agent in Dubai didn’t get his money that I owed him for a delivery he did for me in the UAE. It isn’t clear if this is a law, an agreement between the finance industry or a rule implemented by this particular wire company. Either way its now all sorted but thought I better share this information with you.
