You can not airfreight any items with lithium batteries in them so if you have an I Pad, I Pod “I” whatever or Lap Top, take it with you on the plane and do not have it loaded in your air shipment as it might get confiscated or the carton pulled out of your shipment.

Hello,

My husband and I are moving from Rome, Italy to New Haven, USA. We are willing to drop things off/pick things up near or at both locations, if it saves us on the cost. We are also not in a hurry to receive the shipment back in the US. We want to ship personal belongings only, no furniture, mostly books and clothes. About 20-25 middle sized boxes. We would be very grateful for a cost estimate! Also, what are the usual additional costs/taxes at the ports that we may expect?

Hello Nina, Chris in our office here can help you with this. I have passed this message on to him so he can contact you. If you get a quote through to door then its fairly all inclusive, but although cheaper up front if you pay just to arrival a terminal like New York at the destination you will have to pay for customs clearance and port / hand over fees but it will still be cheaper than a full delivery service and Chris can advise the different prices and options, cheers The Moving Dr.

Fruit Boxes

A customer moving to New Zealand called me today and asked was it ok to pack his things into Banana boxes. Answer is absolutly not! 1/ Australia and New Zealand do not like anything living coming into their country and if they see fruit boxes they are likely to put the whole shipment through a Gamma Ray treatment to kill any bugs and will charge you upwards of $500 for the pleasure. 2/ Fruit boxes are just not strong enough for your things.
