UPakWeShip has been ahead of the trend with curbside deliveries and collections. We require minimal contact and nobody needs to enter your home. At a time when hygiene and safety have never been more important, the benefits of UPakWeShip’s smooth curbside process have been a game-changer for those looking to move internationally and minimizing the risk.

But what does a curbside move look like? This blog post will break down our services so that you can decide what works best for you:

U-Crates and Pallets

When you order a U-Crate or pallet, we will drop it off at the desired address the same way a parcel is delivered. We just require a signature to confirm you’ve got it, and then you can take it into your home – for you to start the packing process! You may have a pre-arranged date for your collection, or you may be playing it by ear, but once you have your U-Crate or pallet, we ask for an optimal 7 days notice for it to be collected fully-packed.

Some people choose to practice their collection day, or practice fitting their U-Crate together, whilst others go with the flow on the day – ultimately, it’s up to you! On collection day, you will need to take your pallet or U-Crate onto the curbside or drive, and from there, start to pack it with your boxes. If you have a U-Crate, make sure you’re using the straps and cover that comes with the service – but any extra cellophane wrap will always be a good thing! If you have a pallet, it is your responsibility to make sure it’s secure.

Then, you wait! Your driver will be in contact to give you a time-frame for your collection and so that you can organize your packing. When they turn up, they will simply use a pallet-jack to lift your service into the truck – and with a friendly smile and a signature from somebody 18+, that’s it!

It really is that simple.

One of the reasons our customers love UPakWeShip is that we don’t need them to be there to sign off on the collection themselves. If you need to leave the country prior to your belongings, a trusted friend or family member is totally fine to sign off.

20ft and 40ft Containers

Whilst our container process is slightly different, it remains as safe as possible for all of our customers – that’s thanks to the ‘you pack’ in UPakWeShip.

Your container will be trucked to your location on a set day which you will have pre-arranged with your shipping coordinator. It’s always important to be prepared and ready to have all hands on deck, offering a couple of cold beers to those who help out is always a great incentive!

The truck will arrive, and you have a 2-hour window to pack it up yourself. If it takes longer, an hourly fee will be applied.

We don’t supply anybody to help with the move, which is why the more you can rely on those are you, the better – particularly for a container move. Our truck drivers are simply there to drive to and from your location and confirm that we have your belongings.

This means you will have minimal interaction with people you don’t know, and nobody touching your belongings.

If you’re interested in finding out more about our services, we offer all-inclusive, immediate prices on our website – so you can start budgeting for your move today!

The world has come to a standstill in a way that no-one can remember happening before. As China slowly begins to bring itself back to normality, the US and Europe are continuing to live through the impacts of Coronavirus.

It goes without saying, that travel right now is the last thing you should be considering – no matter how cheap the fares are.

However, thousands of people around the world have no option. New jobs may be starting, houses have been bought and sold and for many, there’s no choice but to travel.

Staying hygienic is the optimum way to contain the spread of Coronavirus – not only to yourself but to those you come into contact with. Social distancing is pretty hard when you’re crammed on a flying metal tube, let’s face it.

However, just because you are traveling, it doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get Covid-19.

Here are some ways to minimize its impact on you:

Make the most of empty airports and stock up

There aren’t many perks to flying right now, but the empty terminals means there is plenty of hand sanitizer, tissues, wipes and everything else you could possibly want to fly with right now. Whilst customers fight for the final bar of soap at your local supermarket, the airport has full stock.

Wipe down your space

If you can get a hold of them, use anti-bacterial wipes to clean your tray table, seat arms and even your seatbelt when you sit down. From then, you’ll be the only one to sit in it until you get off.

Use paper towels to avoid bathroom contamination

We’ve all experienced the toilets that you have to pull to open instead of push. Airplane toilets are notoriously fiddly. When in-flight, if you need to use the bathroom, wash your hands thoroughly (for twenty seconds) and then use a paper towel or toilet roll to open the door with, before throwing the paper away immediately and using hand sanitizer back at your seat. It may sound extreme, but you’ll be grateful to it if you avoid the virus.

What to do when you land

As soon as you reach solid ground and a shower, peel off and jump in. Throw your clothes into the wash and wipe down your suitcase. There is a lot of contrasting information on how long the virus can exist on surfaces and right now it is far better to be safe than sorry.

We all know the best way to contain the virus is to stay inside and uphold the social distancing regulations outlined by health professionals. However, for those who do need to travel, the most important thing is to maximize your hygiene and keep an eye on the local news from both your origin and destination.

One of the biggest push in recent years has come in the form of supporting your local businesses. Whether it’s shopping at your local butcher or purchasing seasonal food, not only does support of local businesses benefit the local economy, but the customer also leaves feeling satisfied with ‘doing their bit’.

But what about other small businesses? The ones which aren’t convenience stores for your everyday needs. The ones which are still founded on the morals and ethics of family – how do they differ to larger, corporate alternatives? And will you receive the same service as a well-known name?

Honestly? We reckon family businesses deliver an even better service.

Whilst choosing a smaller company can be daunting with something you deem important, the chances are you won’t regret your choice. From personal touches to prices that don’t reflect investors, family-owned business is the way to go – just ask the brothers who own Aldi.

Due to knowing the value of the business from the roots up, those working in a family business have much more investment in their work than simply the ‘work to live’ existence. After watching the business grow, there’s more of a personal investment which will be reflected in the customer services.

Whilst Elon Musk is a hit-or-miss figure, there’s no denying the success of Tesla. And part of the success is down to his personal investment in the Tesla team. In 2017, he emailed every single person at Tesla with five ways to improve the company. One of them was to avoid the hierarchy system which often slows work-flow. Instead of going from A to B to C to D with a question or to request permission, Musk insists his employees go straight from A to D. Another infamous entrepreneur, Richard Branson, also swears by this method.

Admittedly, not all small businesses operate on this A to D work ethic, but UPakWeShip does. If there’s an issue, a question or an obstacle that we’re trying to work around, there’s no back and forth, our goal is to get the answers we need as quickly as possible. As the customer, this means you won’t be waiting around for days for just one email.

The best part about using a small, successful business, is that you have the dependability and expertise of a larger brand, but with a softer side of a family business. Despite managing an international team across two continents and four countries, our UPakWeShip owner still responds to quotes, chats to customers, and you can hear directly from him on the infamous Ask the Moving Doctor page.

It’s this team effort that has kept UPakWeShip in business for decades and allows us to continuously grow. With family in the EU, UK, and US, the customer experience is in safe hands from start to finish. Instead of wondering about the needs of investors, we work by responding to your needs.

Whether it’s shopping or shipping, we guarantee your support of family businesses will be met with friendliness and the willingness to go above and beyond.

UPakWeShip is an international shipping company with over 30-years of industry expertise. We pride ourselves on offering a reliable service and upfront quotes with no-hidden-costs. If you’re considering moving overseas, check out our prices today.
