If you have some boxes of stuff that you want to get overseas the cheapest way possible, look at our pallet service.

If you can pay a dew hundred more I really recommend our U Crate 100’s to protect all your stuff. You load it up at your house and we deliver the same crate to your driveway overseas.

If you really need to take your bed, then I suggest the U Crate 200 but you do have to hire a truck and load the crate on the truck and drive it to the local terminal. A bit of a pain and personally I would rather ditch the bed and use the U 100 ‘s You can ship 1,2,3,4, even 5 U Crate 100’s and they are still cost effective.

If you have a bunch of boxes, sofa, bed, desk and say an arm chair then I suggest packing it all well and put it in a Pack rat or Unites container at your house. It then gets trucked to our terminal near Charleston where we unload and transship it into our own shipping container loaded with all the other pallets and U Crates off to the same area.

If you are thinking you want to take the whole house load of stuff with you then use a self load 20 or 40ft container. These containers though for Europe have to go into the destination country direct and some of the customs paperwork for France, Portugal, Italy, Spain for example can be a bit tricky whereas all the other services above for Europe would go via our terminal near Rotterdam NL and have a very simple customs clearance (in English) into Europe.

There are an overwhelming number of international moving companies that do a variety of tasks…if you are happy to pack your own things then I can recommend UPakWeShip..

Their website is self explanitory..what you get..how much it costs and what you have to do providing photo and video guidance of how to pack etc.

The whole process went very smooth and if you did have a question there was always someone to answer the phone to help.

I would certainly use this company again and recommend them highly.If money is no concern and you want to leave everything to someone else then that is the way to go..however if you are prepared ti do your own packing and loading into the box or crate then this is the way to go to save thousands.

I haven’t unpacked my crates yet but they look in good condition with no obvious damage or problems.

General Tips: 

Use actual moving boxes.  Heavy duty medium and small boxes are most common.  Bubble wrap and packing paper is your friend!  Don’t skip on packing materials, if it is worth taking it is worth packing well.  Keep boxes around 40lbs max so they don’t burst open or crush your other boxes.  Most boxes have a crush test limit and weight limit stamped on the bottom.  Packing two smaller, lighter boxes is better than one large heavy box.  Some items are best in their original packaging or in a specialized box, such as picture boxes, flat screen tv boxes, foam padded boxes.  Make sure to fill boxes and not leave void/air space inside.  Scrunched up packing paper helps to fill void space in boxes and protect your items.  Tape along all the box’s seams.  Similar sized boxes stack together the neatest.

Where do I buy moving boxes and supplies?

We find it is cheapest for customers to purchase their moving supplies locally, such as a local home depot type store, self storage store, truck rental store, or even online.  We recommend you use actual moving boxes for shipping as they hold up the best.
Basic Supplies: boxes, tape, packing paper, bubble wrap, cutter or scissors, thick marker.

Are plastic tubs ok to use?

While we recommend using cardboard moving boxes as they hold up the best, yes you can use the plastic totes/tubs.  We always recommend you tape the lids on really well and wrap the plastic tub itself with duct tape.  We have found that when damage occurs on plastic tubs it is usually them cracking- from the weight or vibrations along its journey, so having the tape wrapped around it helps keep it together.

  Small 1.5 cubic feet = 16 x 12 x 12 inches

A book box, or useful for smaller but heavier items.

  Medium 3 cubic feet = 18 x 18 x 16 inches

Most commonly used for most household items

  Large 4.5 cubic feet = 24 x 18 x 18 inches

Bigger but lighter items such as blankets, towels

Example:  12 medium boxes stack onto a pallet up to 61 inches tall.  Leaving some room on the top for other smaller boxes etc too.

Example:  8 large boxes stack together on a pallet up to 36 inches tall and another 36 inches of room for some medium and small boxes.
