Hello Coleen, thanks for the question, we have a tool here that opens the padlock so feel free to lock it.
Enjoy the long weekend and “Happy Packing”

Hello,
We are shipping our things to France from Texas.and had a Pakrat container delivered to our home today. This container will then be shipped to South Carolina.. Once it arrives, it will be opened and the contents removed to weigh and measure before loading it onto a shared shipping container. The Pakrat driver gave us a padlock with 2 keys. if I have the keys, how does Upakweship open the Pakrat container on arrival in South Carolina?
Thank you

Hello Vincent, thats a good question.
We actually have a page on our web site listing things that can not be shipped. https://upakweship.com/community/moving-tips/prohibited-items/

And also a video about this here. https://youtu.be/Uze9_BJ_DF4?si=i6vXBvCfnuIF9YQd

Power tools are fine if drained and small batteries are ok if drained and shipped unattached from the tool
I hope that helps and thanks for asking the International Moving Doctor.
Happy Packing!

Hi
I want to be sure about packing certain household items, eg: Aerosol cleaning sprays>?
Power lawn trimming devices (Drained of Gas )

I guess most helpful would be complete list of prohibited items
Thank you

Hello Heath, thanks for the question regarding storage bins. Plastic / rubber bins or tubs are great for shipping on pallets and U Crates as long as they are the good quality tough ones. The semi see through ones are not thick enough and the ones at the bottom of the pile can crack under the weight of the ones on top and cause damage. So, use good quality ones and you are fine. I am not sure who makes them but I have seen a lot come through our warehouse recently that are black with either red or yellow lids which seem nice and strong.
Check our Instagram pictures and you tube channel to see pictures of pallets loaded with these.
If you need a quote for the move to Greece, just click here. https://us.bigin.online/org895945384/forms/upakweship-quote-request-from-usa

I hope that helps, let me know if I can help further and just to let you know I am very jealous of you being able to move to Greece!
Cheers

We will be moving to Greece but don’t know yet where our long term home will be, so have a 5x10 storage unit here in the states in the meantime. We’re trying to figure out what to pack our belongings in, boxes or 27 gallon storage bins (the ones Costco sells). The storage bins are nice for keeping stuff dry and are easy to move, but will they be problematic to ship?

Hello Lou. Happy New Year to you and your family. I like your last name, are we related?
Jan / Feb are quiet months for International moving so I would say 6-8 weeks. Come spring I would say 5-6 weeks providing there are no shipping delays or strikes which for the moment everything seems to be running well between our offices in Charleston and Rotterdam.
To get a more specific answer, you can always ask when the next sailing is when you book with us and if necessary book the collection of the pallet to coordinate with the next sailing so it doesn’t for example show up at our warehouse the following day after we just loaded a container to Rotterdam.
I hope that makes sense and helps?
Anything else let us know.
Cheers

Hello Rick, I need to do a video on this, thank you.
I would wrap really well in bubble wrap. If glass, put a towel over the glass first, if it’s an oil painting put something soft like tissue paper or kitchen roll over it first. Then slide the pictures into picture boxes that you can buy in any self store shop or U Haul. Failing that slide into a flat carton taping up one end first, so like a normal cardboard carton not made up into a cube, keep it flat and slide picture into it. Then load up your U Crate with boxes leaving a gap in the middle to place your pictures up on end. That’s what i have done in the past, I don’t like laying them flat. I hope that helps and let me know if you need more help on this,
Cheers

Hey Doc! Spouse and I are still awaiting Visa approval (a few months). We are moving Arizona to Spain. We already have life boiled down to enough items to fit into a U-Crate 100. I appreciate your advice on boxing and packing, but I did not see anything regarding wall art. Most items are less than 43" X 43" and likely will lie flat right at the top of the box. Others are really too big, but none exceeding 43" in one direction. I had intended to stand them tall end up. BUT what is the best method to wrap them to protect from other boxes and each other? Some are unframed but all do not really have the option of taking them out of a frame for rolling up. Your best advice please?
