Know Before You GO

Thinking about Moving Overseas? Here are few tips to help you.
Go and visit the place in advance at least once. Make sure you like their culture, the weather, the people, and check out housing prices, schools if needed, local taxes & cost of living.
Enquire early on about Visa requirements, paperwork needed, can your spouse work? how long does a visa take to obtain? Also check out banks, insurance, health insurance, local social security numbers needed? currency exchange, driving license requirements.
Unless your moving within Australia / New Zealand / United Kingdom or USA start learning the language as soon as possible. You need to know at least the basics like Hello, Yes, No, Thank you, how much, etc before you arrive.
Some important smaller concerns could be what side of the road do they drive on, are most cars manual or automatic? Will your credit cards work? can you transfer your driving record & your credit rating could be affected or not recognised so would you get credit there? Do you need new cell phones? Will your TV and DVD’s work? Whats the voltage? Will your same email account work there?
