While the risk of your belongings being lost or damaged during transit is very low, unexpected things can occasionally happen. For a small additional cost, our transit protection option provides valuable extra reassurance and peace of mind throughout your shipment’s journey.
Our transit protection provides cover for total loss of your shipment, as well as loss or damage to individual items where this is caused by an external event. This could include accidental damage from a forklift or container crane, a road traffic accident involving the vehicle transporting your goods, or certain weather and storm-related incidents.
Individual boxes are also covered if they are lost during transit, or if external damage to a box results in damage to the items inside. For example, if a forklift accidentally pierced a box and damaged a television, computer monitor, games console, or fragile belongings such as china or crystal glassware.
It is important to remember that transit protection does not cover damage caused by inadequate or unsuitable packing. Please ensure that all of your belongings are carefully wrapped, securely packed and sufficiently protected for their journey.
The transit protection policy costs 2.59% of the value you put on your items. So, for example if your transit protection item values came to a total of €5000, the cost to you would be €5000 x 2.59% = €129.50. The minimum transit protection premium/ charge is €100. The policy has a €250 deductible.
