The chances of anything happening to your items while in transit are very small, but for the relatively low cost of transit protection, we believe it’s well worth having that extra peace of mind.
Our transit protection option provides cover for total loss, as well as loss or damage to individual items where this has been caused by an external event. This could include accidental damage caused by a forklift or shipping container crane, a road traffic accident involving the truck carrying your goods, or certain storm-related incidents.
The cover also protects against individual boxes being lost during transit, or where visible external damage to a box has resulted in damage to the contents. For example, if a forklift blade accidentally pierced a box and damaged a TV, computer screen, games console, or fragile items such as china or crystal glassware.
Please note that the protection does not cover damage resulting from items being inadequately packed, so it is important to make sure that everything is securely and appropriately wrapped and protected before shipping.
The transit protection policy costs 2.59% of the value you put on your items. So, for example if your transit protection item values came to a total of £5000, the cost to you would be £5000 x 2.59% = £129.50. The minimum transit protection premium/ charge is £100. The policy has a £250 deductible.
