Posted at 02:00h, 17 JulyI am moving with my family to Sweden from Appleton, WI. We are leaving the USA for the foreseeable future. We are selling most of furniture but would like to move some things, books, clothes, bedding and children’s toys packed in boxes to Sweden. We will be moving to Helsingborg near Gotenborg. Our expected move date is coming up fat and we would like to get the a good and economical way to ship about 250 – 300 c.feet. We also want to ship our 2012 Toyota Prius V to Sweden. Please advice. We were thinking about LCL and RORO for the car.
Thanks
Sara
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:35h, 17 JulyHello Sara, if you have about 250-300 cubic feet of things and the car I suggest loading it all into a 20ft container and shipping it that way to Sweden. I think that will cost you about the same as shipping the car roro and your things as a part load. I’ll send you our part load rates and a 20 ft rate with the car. If you google Wallenius find their local office and call them for a roro price on your car. They operate the ships and will give you the same price as they would give us. Cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 09:12h, 16 JulyHi Mark,
I am currently waiting for the final process to be passed for my immigration move to Perth. I have an apartments worth of furniture plus a young baby along with a BMW320d sport estate car, worth approximately $55000-$60,000 OZ dollars, according to the OZ Pricing Authority, Redbook.
Can you please advise whether it’s worth shipping the car to OZ (as it’s really expensive to buy something with similar specifications in OZ), what would be the cheapest way to do so and the cheapest way to ship everything?
Many thanks for your help,

Seattle to Rotterdam...
Posted at 20:52h, 15 JulyHello! I would love some advice on the most cost-efficient (time is no consideration) way to move a bunch of stuff from Seattle, Washington to Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Here are some details and I’d love any suggestions!
What: Various household items such as….
10 boxes of books
2 Wing chairs
10′ antique wood table
Boxes of kitchen supplies
China
Side tables….
Camping equipment
Where:
– one 10×10 storage unit in downtown Seattle
– Another 10×10 pile of stuff in e basement of a house in Seattle
When:
Shipment to leave sometime around August 27 – 30 – doesn’t matter too much
Timeline:
Can arrive whenever it is cheapest to do so!
Pick-up and packing:
We’d like door-to-door pick up and have help with packing the container.
Location 1: Kent, Washington
Location 2: Seattle, Washington
Drop off: Rotterdam, the Netherlands
Thank you for your help and suggestions!

The Moving Doctor
Posted at 17:44h, 15 JulyIsrael isn’t one of specialties so I am not sure if that is a good price and also you need to check the small print to see what is included and what is not. The Moving Doctor
Posted at 18:14h, 16 JulyStefano, I do this service as a courtesy to answer questions about moving. You didn’t ask a question but asked for a rate. I have passed this enquiry on to one of our agents to answer you but please note for just price enquiries you can always fill out our quick quote form which is designed to send you back quotes asap. This ask the moving DR is for questions like how do I or can you recommend etc etc.
July is an extremely busy month for all in the moving industry so it is hard to keep up with all the emails, phone calls etc. I have been diligent though to respond to ask the moving Dr at least once a day. I’m sorry if this was not good enough but there are phones, emails and quick quote forms as an alternative. I know moving can be stressful but try some deep breaths or a glass of wine and try to relax….. Cheers The Moving Dr 🙂

I am planning to move some household goods, mainly furniture and carpets from Athens, Greece to Houston, TX USA. My guess is volume of about 6-7 cubic metre. What is the most cost effective method of shipping? I prefer door to door shipping.
How long would it take for items to arrive? We will be ready to ship in about 2-3 weeks.

Posted at 21:58h, 13 JulyMoving to France from US. Can I do my own packing or am I required to have the moving company do the packing? I read somewhere that the US doesn’t allow self packing.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 15:43h, 15 JulyGood question Kit! There is no law saying you cant pack your own things, that’s like saying you cant pack your own suitcase! This is something moving companies and van lines will tell you as they all make good money charging you for packing up your things for you! If there was a law against packing your own things then UPakWeShip wouldn’t be in business! You will have to do a packing list though like a mover would do for customs but its easy and we can help you and have the templates here in the office that we can email you. I’ll send you some rates and options, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 19:15h, 13 JulyHello,
I was wondering if you could recommend a shipping company or relocation service to move my belonging from the UK to USA. I will not need anyone to pack it but will need some boxes from the company… also the stuff is mainly clothes apart from a guitar and vinyl player. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 15:36h, 15 JulyHello Sarah, I would buy the boxes you need locally from a self store or local moving company. Once packed by you, we can ship through to your door in the USA. We can either ship your things on a pallet or for better protection I suggest using our 50 cubic feet U Box Cardboard crate to put your things in. Either way Chris in our office will be in touch with some options and prices, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 17:14h, 12 JulyWe’re going to be relocating for a year to Ireland, from the US. Our company provides us with a shipping service, but the costs seem astronomical – and I have to pay 40% on those costs as a tax in Ireland.
They are currently estimating $3,450 USD for each “D” size container, by Air. I’m looking to change this to a Sea shipment. Does this cost seem reasonable? We are only taking clothes, and some small amount of kitchen goods.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 19:58h, 12 JulyHello Jon, that seems expensive! We could send you one of our U Boxes to pack and load which is probably similar or larger than the D container (our U Box is 50 cubic foot of useable space) we would then collect it at a later date and ship to your door anywhere in Ireland for $1204.00 all inclusive. You can find more details on this service by clicking here https://www.upackweship.com/services-residential-ubox.php Please feel free to call or email me if you need more advice or have any other questions, we would love to help! Posted at 01:54h, 11 JulyMy son is moving to libya and we were looking at shipping his bed, tv, and motorcycle all there. should we use a pod, freight box, or something else? and how much will it cost, and where would we need to ship from to get there?
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:23h, 11 JulyHello Penny, we have done some high value medical supplies to Libya for MUSC and were told by the local customs broker in Tripoli that whatever you ship don’t send it in a crate, always ship in a 20 foot container otherwise things get lost and damaged so although its not going to be the cheapest way, its going to be the most reliable and if it isn’t going to get there in one piece its pointless shipping it in the first place! I suggest loading everything in a 20 foot container. We can give you a price for this and can get Stephanie in our office to contact you and give you some rates, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 18:17h, 10 JulyHello,
We have an offer on moving our belongings from Lyon, France to WA, US , plus disposal of unwanted furniture in the amount of €4995.00, this for a 10foot container. 30%payment due by check or bank transfer on the day we sign our booking contract and 70% on the of moving. Is the pricing close to known cost for such a move and payment method terms typical?
The reason I am asking it seemed quite a bit chaper than other companies and the US partner company had questionable reviews, so I am a bit nervous entering a scam. Is there a way to protect me or something I could asked for that would be a clear red flag if they don’t have that?
Thank you so much for your help! Angelika

Posted at 20:59h, 10 JulyHello Angelika, its a little hard to say without knowing more details about how much is involved but doesn’t sound that bad. If you would like you could email me the quote and I can check to see that it looks like it includes everything or has missed some items out of the quote. I can check the small print to! If you also wanted to just email me the companies names I can check them out for you, see if they are licensed etc. We will always be honest and also confidential. I’m an American citizen who’s been residing in southern Spain for the past couple of years and will now be moving to Los Angeles. Would a container from here go back across the Atlantic and then my truck to the West Coast or via Panama Canal?
We shipped a 40′ container with our car when we moved from Miami to Malaga last time. Would you be able to provide us with competitive fees for the same?
Planningto ship around early October.
How long does this route take for aan economical journey?

The best way to understand the volume is take a tape measure and some blue masking tape and measure and tape out the length, width and height on your floor and wall to see your imaginary crate size and then see what you can fit in it. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 16:13h, 09 JulyHello! My husband and I are moving from the Washington, D. C. area to Leiden in The Netherlands in about a month and a half, and we were wondering a bit about the “cheap ship” option. It seems like the only available drop-off terminal is in NY. Is that correct? The website also mentions customs and handover fees. Do you know where we could find information about how much those fees might be?
Many Thanks!
Clara

Posted at 19:38h, 09 JulyHello Clara, Cheap ship is a new option we are working on and don’t have all the information up yet. It is the cheapest way of shipping as its only terminal to terminal but you never quite know how much you are going to pay at the destination terminal, we have estimates on this but cant be exact as it depends on the ship and the ships agent. I am passing this over to Chris as he runs the Cheap Ship option, thanks The Moving Dr

Posted at 01:33h, 09 JulyHi,
How long would it take and how much would it cost to ship 200 cubic feet of personal belongings from San Francisco, CA to London, UK ? I don’t have any furniture as I lived in a small furnished studio apartment in San Francisco. Only clothing, shoes, small rug, bed linens, some dishes etc. I actually don’t believe I have nothing near 200 cubic feet of stuff but this is the quote that I received from the storage company which offered 7-9 weeks at the cost of $3300. I would really like to receive my items sooner than that. I can provide more details if necessary, just please let me know. Also, I would be interested in hiring someone to move my things from storage unit into boxes. How much such a service would cost?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks very much, Dominika

Posted at 19:44h, 09 JulyHello Dominika, if you could pack everything into cartons we could collect and ship to London for $12.91 per cubic foot which = $2582 for a door to door all inclusive service. you can deduct another $2.00 per cubic foot or $400 based on 200 cube if you bring all your boxes to our San Francisco terminal. From the west coast it will take 7-9 weeks however. I hope this helps, I’ll email you some more information as well, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 13:53h, 08 Julyvery funny intro..congrats and welcome back..
I mentioned to upak a while back i’m hoping to relocate to Urmston Manchester UK aug/september’ish. i’m planning to pack upakweship boxes within the next 2 weeks. shipping out a week or so later. i plan to have the boxes delivered to a friends haulage repair yard in Wigan for safekeeping till we arrive. will the boxes withstand bad weather when covered with plastic sheet as we live in lake area with no garage (gravel driveway)? do you literally take care of all red tape/paperwork/customs etc? regards franni tel: 860-583-7607

Posted at 15:37h, 08 JulyHi Franni, we have been emailing each other this morning so I think you have all the info you need. U Boxes are not designed to be left outside especially in England’s weather lol, we can store for you if you need for $25 per week or if not I suggest finding a small self store or a friends garage to store it in rather than outside (not good)
Yes we take care of all the shipping door to door and all expenses in between and all the red tape. We have all the form s here in the office and will email them to you when and if you book it with us. You can then call me if you need any help completing the forms or watch our you tube video on how to complete a customs form. Either way we take care of everything for you and don’t panic, its all quite easy! Cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 09:56h, 07 JulyHey Doc!
I’m planning a move from Thessaloniki, Greece to Boston, MA, USA that I need your help with.
We’re only be taking smaller household stuff with us. No furniture or other bulky items. Just stuff that fit into boxes.
How much of those it will depend on the shipping cost though. You know, some stuff might make more financial sense to buy new instead of having them shipped. So the question here is this: Is there any way to have some kind of a rough estimate on how much each extra box (~5cb ft each?) would cost assuming a minimum of say 10 boxes?
Also, would the ubox be available in my case?
Thanks

Posted at 15:39h, 08 JulyHello Harry, the U Box wouldn’t be available from Greece I’m afraid but we will contact you by email with some prices and service options, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 02:42h, 05 JulyHi I was looking at buying a pinball machine from Winchester, california from a residential address and was wond the cheapest cost to get it to perth, Western Australia. Thanks
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 15:46h, 08 JulyHmmm Chelsee, trouble is it will cost as much as the machine I expect! If the seller will pack it all up in bubble wrap and cardboard and legs come off and may be the back and can drop it at our terminal in LA the price would be $874. But you would have to pay Quarantine inspection and taxes locally before we delivered it to your door. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 10:17h, 04 JulyHi Mr. Moving Doctor,
My small family are packing up our lives in NYC to move to Berlin. We have a 1br apt in which we’re trying to sell all of our big items in hopes to just have boxes and small items like a bicycle, guitar, etc.
In looking at the website, a U Crate seemed to make the most sense based on how many boxes I’m anticipating, but now I’ve stumbled onto the Shared Container option – any advise on what would be economical? The Shared Container page doesnt give me a quote. After selecting Germany, there’s no terminal option to select from and therefore it cant calculate.
Also – are the rates on the US side only, will there be other fees associated with the transportation/delivery of our items in Germany? And does either option have a maximum weight?
Thanks! and a hearty congrats from us as well.
