Posted at 03:46h, 12 AugustHi I am flying from BC Canada to QLD Australia this Thursday. I have a massage table that I need to take and Air NZ aren’t sure if they will accept it as the dimensions are 23.60kg and 30″ x 81″.
Who else offers the cheapest shipping – I don’t need this for at least another 3 months so am happy to have it go the long slow route.
Cheers

Posted at 18:20h, 12 AugustHello Amanda, I would really try and take this with you as otherwise if shipping it you will be paying a minimum volume of about 100 cubic feet and $1000 so would be best to pay airline the excess baggage fee, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 14:42h, 11 AugustI am selling my house in Hungary and moving to California. What is the best way to ship my household goods and do you have a feel for cost? I will not be shipping large items such as televisions, beds or appliances. However, I have a lot books and other such things, probably enough to fill the back of a large pickup about three times.
Thanks,

I have 45 Boxes, 01 two-seat leather, o1 TV Set, some Paintings etc., books, all personal belongings and used.
I have them at Shurgard StorageGermany, Cologne. I would like to bring that stuff to Lima, Peru and would prefer door to door and if possible by ship. It could be arranged by the latest August 21, 2013
My Storage Room at Shurgard in Cologne, Germany is 3 Meters and it is not full yet.
Can you recommend the most economical way for shipping?

Posted at 15:53h, 10 AugustHi Mark,
I’m a student moving from Boston, MA back home to Leeds, England.
I’d like to know if the boxes I pack have to be accessible for inspection at any way along the trip. I’m worried as if I pack my items (mostly furniture) very securely, will someone need to get inside the boxes to check the contents, and possible ruin my packaging, making it less sturdy for the remainder of the trip.
Another question–looking at the upackweship website, it seems like my best option would be to go for the Shared Container Service. I have 7 or 8 boxes that will total between 100 and 150 cubic feet. the boxes are of odd sizes and will not stack evenly, but they can be stacked on top of each other. Do you think the Shared Container Service is my best option?
I filled out the Rate-Mate and it produced a quote of $10.91 / cubic foot. Does this figure include port charges and terminal and hand out charges?
Many thanks for your help,
Paul Whitehead
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 18:28h, 12 AugustHello Paul, no please pack them full and tight and tape up well with 2 inch packing tape or duct tape. Sometimes Customs will inspect but its rare as its easier these days for them to run your shipment through an x ray without opening your boxes. The average size moving box is about 4-5 cubic feet and a large one is 6 cubic feet so if you only have 7or8 I think possible the baggage rates might be better for you and save you some money! Our rates are all inclusive and include all port charges, customs fees and delivery to your door in England. Anything else let me know, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 14:41h, 10 AugustHow many boxes I will need to move from Los Angeles, CA to Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. What are the boxes made of and how good is security against theft during transit?
Are professional packers available? This is my 4th move in 18 months and am worn out! How do I pack a 3′ tall wall clock?
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 18:32h, 12 AugustI suggest going to a self store, U Haul or even Staples or Lowes etc and buying medium size Moving Boxes, tape and bubble wrap. Theft is not a major concern but if you are worried or have high value or fragile items I suggest the U Box as a good safe way of shipping. We can pack it for you if you need. Add on $3.00 per cubic foot min $350 for an add on to any of our services.. I suggest packing wall clock by wrapping in lots of bubble wrap like go around 6 times thick, cover in some cardboard and put in a U Box. I hope that helps, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 02:04h, 10 AugustHey Doc,
I’m an Australian trying to move 21 boxes (40.5 cu ft) from the USA back home but most of the moving companies have a minimal (cu ft) way above my needs. Is there another way of shipping my things to Australia without being ripped off? Also is there a way to contact a shipping company (without going through a agent) directly in either LA or San Fran? Also how do you trust moving companies when most (not all) of them have such bad reviews?
Thanks Mate!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 18:42h, 12 AugustHello Elisha, we have a minimum of 30 cubic feet which is about 5 suitcases full which I believe is a lot smaller minimum than most other companies. We run our own 40 foot shipping container consolidation containers from Los Angeles to Sydney and beyond so we are not middle men or brokers and certainly will not “rip you off” With regards to reviews, don’t write a company off if it has a couple of bad reviews. There is not a company in any service industry that hasn’t gotten a few bad reviews. There are always two sides to a story and sometimes the company is correct! Also bear in mind if you upset a customer they are more likely to blast you all over the web where as if you do a great job people often say nothing on the web because that’s just service they were expecting in the first place! I’ll email you some prices but just to let you know our rates start at $567 from LA to Sydney, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 16:34h, 09 AugustHi Doc,
My husband and I are moving from Calgary, Canada, to Plymouth England this fall. We estimate that we have enough stuff to fill about 1/2 of a 20 ft container. The stuff is mostly used furniture, and some other household odds and sods. We don’t mind packing/unpacking the container ourselves.
What do you think the cheapest way is to get our stuff from calgary to Plymouth?
Thankyou

Posted at 19:12h, 09 AugustHello Ashley, we are working on a self load 20ft container rate for you as that will be as cheap as sending in a groupage container, thanks The Moving Doc

Posted at 13:22h, 09 AugustI have personal items and furniture in storage in the south of France to be shipped to Toronto, Canada. I have spoken with Canadian customs regarding the contents and was advised to omit the new box spring and mattress as Canada does not allow beds to be shipped (will comply). There are three wooden crates I assume the weight is somewhere between 3,000 and 3,500lbs. No appliances or items that would not be acceptable only furniture, kitchen ware, dishes, books, linens, clothing, patio set. Could you please let me know the approx. cost of shipping, how long would the process take and the simpliest way to ship? Thank you!

Would it be possible to get an approximate quote without knowing the exact details of the size and weight of the carpets? We would decide on how many to ship based on the cost….

I was after a quote to ship a small container – 1 box probably (teachest/crate sized) from London to Los Angeles.
And is it possible to arrange delivery of the crate to London E9 and pick up when packed?
And how much to have delivered in Los Angeles? Or if to arrange pick up at a terminal, where is the terminal and how much cheaper would this be?

Posted at 00:05h, 08 AugustWe are moving personal effects FROM Port of Spain, Trinidad, W.I. To Westport, Co. Mayo Ireland.
What happens when shipment arrives i Dublin , Ireland?
What agents will receive goods to arrange delivery by road to Westport, Co. Mayo?
With Thanks.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:13h, 08 AugustHello, well that really depends on who is shipping this and what your quote says. If it says to arrival Dublin then you will have to clear it through Customs or get a customs broker to do this for you, will costs about 100 Euros. Then once cleared you will have top pay the port and handover fees as then collect your shipment for a warehouse in Dublin. If however your quote says its through to door Westport then hopefully this would all be taken care of by the agent. If you need specific help please feel free to email me direct, cheers The Moving Dr move@upakweship.com

Posted at 14:19h, 08 AugustHello Sam, that is 36 cubic feet so our price from our terminal Los Angeles to your door would be $1053 through to door all inclusive except AQIS which runs about AUS$140 charged down there. Will email you more details, cheers The Moving Dr

my name is Amanda and I will be moving to hawaii from california on August 16th for school. I have a lot of stuff I need to bring over, is it smarter to use boxes and send them through UPS or something or should I just bring a bunch of suitcases over with me? Can you give me some advice on this situation? thanks!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:23h, 08 AugustHello Amanda, shipping between Hawaii and CA is expensive so I would shop around between Post Office, UPS, FedEx, Excess baggage on the plane and any other parcel carrier down there. Probably best to take it on the plane with you and pay the extra fee though, cheers The Moving Dr

MS GIRARD
Posted at 07:42h, 06 AugustHello,
I need an estimate for a shipment of around 30 boxes of Books/photos/etc from Missouri USA to Landiras France (Near Bordeaux…Could pick up goods in Bordeaux if it’s less expensive). I’d like to have an all inclusive price… so that there’s no surprise with regards to customs etc.
Thank you for your time.
Cordially,
MS GIRARD
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:59h, 06 AugustHello Ms Girard, the only way of giving you an all inclusive price is if we have total control over everything which we can only do if we move you through to door. As soon as you involve local terminals then that opens the door for the local terminal to charge what it likes to hand over to you so personally I would always advise to get quotes through to door so everything is inclusive with as you say no surprises! Our price for 30 book size cartons from our terminals in St Louis MO to door near Bordeaux $1050 if up to 50 cubic feet or $1326 if 51-100 cubic feet. Add on $200 for ground floor collection. I will email you the details and also suggest you look at our U Box as an option. Cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 05:31h, 05 AugustHi, I am enquiring (very early) about shipping a container from Melbourne back to Dublin Ireland. I am trying to decide if i should ship or sell all my items and this will all depend on price of course. I will only need a small container as i am not planning on taking all furniture etc home. Can you advise which is the smallest container you ship to Ireland and maybe a rough price on each size??
I would be planning on taking 3 webbers, TV’s, TV cabinets, shelving units, suitcases with clothes, dining room table and chairs but NO bedroom furniture or anything like that so pretty small container i think.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Method for getting our gear there that you would advise? Thank you for your time!!!!
The trip would be at the end of October. Also, any advice or direction as we have never
Travelled there before. I’m assuming we would need to purchase outlet adapters
For our gear as it is all 110v plugs….

Posted at 17:50h, 05 AugustHello Merrilee, that sounds exciting! You don’t mention how much gear you have but as this would be a temporary import I suggest contacting our Air Division and getting Ken to quote you a price. You can get mutil power adapters from Radio Shack and other places which should work for you as long as its the same voltage otherwise you would also need a transformer. I’ll pass this on to Ken to contact you, cheers The Moving Dr

If not go to the local terminal and ask them for a price. If not may be ship as excess luggage on the plane with you or call the US airlines cargo number and see if they would quote you by air cargo if you dropped it off at the airport. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 12:25h, 01 AugustHello Loveit, if everything is in boxes packed up ready to go and you can drop off at one of our terminals in NC our rate would be $1226 for 100 cubic feet all inclusive through to door Ireland. Add on $200 if you need collection from your front door ground floor or deduct$200 if you can deliver to our terminal in Charleston SC I’ll email you these options as well, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 17:26h, 31 JulyHi!
I need to move the following from Buffalo, NY, to Prague, Czech Republic. Could you please give me a ballpark cost estimate and the time it will take?
A corner sectional couch (can be broken up into sections): roughly 45″ (depth) x 4 sections (sections have the following length 45″, 33″, 33″, 42″ and 42″.
A dining room table (40″ x 83″ x 30″) and 8 chairs.
20 boxes medium size.
Thank you!

Posted at 18:58h, 31 JulyHello Marina, a self packing option with that mount of large furniture is a bit tricky as its too much for one of our crates but too small and not costs effective to self load in a 20 foot shipping container. I think in this instance you are better with a mover who can pack these up and crate them for you. It wont be cheap but there again there is no point in shipping them if they are not going to get there in one piece! Cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 13:15h, 31 JulyHi, I am playing with the idea of moving back to the uk london area from taormina Sicily and would like a very approximate ideas of what it will cost, I don’t plan on moving furniture just boxes and probably the largest items would be 2 flat screen 32″ tv , probably about 20 boxes 40×4060 I would do the packing and I’m not in too much of a hurry to receive the items in the uk so the cheapest solution would be fine
Thankyiu

Vivien
Posted at 22:20h, 30 JulyHi Moving Dr,
I am moving from Gothenburg Sweden to St. Louis, Missouri. I will probably have something about 100 Kg
to ship. Most of them are clothes, shoes and small household items, very basic stuff, not delicate or fragile.
Could you please let me know the most economical way to get my stuff there? And also the estimate cost?
Thanks!
