Posted at 23:04h, 09 OctoberWe are moving from Denver, Colorado to Paris, France and are trying to decide whether/how much of our furniture to ship. We will be moving from a 350m2 home to a 300m2 home. Any rough estimates you can provide on shipping costs would be appreciated.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:26h, 14 OctoberHi Christine, we can email you some prices and service options. If you are wanting to take furniture then our 20 foot container options would be best, if not I suggest our U Box service for boxes and bits n bobs. We will email you, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 20:03h, 09 OctoberWe have a small houseful of quality furniture in Lithia, Florida 33547 that we wish to bring home to Preston area in the UK (PR3 0JL).
What’s the cheapest and best way of doing this please? How much is it likely to cost:
a) door to door b)door to UK terminal – say Liverpool.
This is what we have:
Two bedroom suites – one King, one Queen; one dining room suite; two sofas – one a sofa bed, coffee tables and small sideboard. Plus various smaller items.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:47h, 14 OctoberHi Peter, the cheapest way if you have some big furniture is a door to door self load 20foot container. I suggest a door to door all inclusive price then you know exactly how much up front its all going to cost. If you get prices to arrival Liverpool, you wont know until your there to collect it how much you will have to pay to the warehouse people in Liverpool before they let you have your things.
Stephanie in our office will be emailing you the price for the 20foot container. Hope that works for you, cheers The Moving Doc
Kathryn
Posted at 20:02h, 09 OctoberHi, what’s the approximate cost (and best way) to ship furniture from Toronto Canada to Bath, England? It would be roughly a 10×10 container I think (3 rooms worth). Thanks!

Posted at 20:49h, 14 OctoberHi Kathryn, I’ll get Pete in our office to contact you and quote you some service options and prices, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 20:00h, 09 OctoberI am trying to figure out what 300 cubic feet is and what it looks like
can it fit a queen bed and 30 boxes
how many feet is it long, wide, and high?
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:51h, 14 OctoberHi Jenny, that sounds a lot less than 300 cubic feet. I am going to send you our slide show presentation on email that explains about how to work out the size of your shipment. I think after watching that you will have a better idea of what your shipments volume is and how much everything will therefore costs you. Cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 11:41h, 09 OctoberHow do I know how much I have to pay duties, taxes and customs duties on a package with 1 kilo shipped from anaheim, california to portugal
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 21:01h, 14 OctoberHello Anabela, if you budget for about 30% of the value you should be covered so if it is a used item I would declare it to customs on your form as having a low value. Ship either with UPS, FedEx or post office. Cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 07:33h, 09 OctoberIn the next year I will be moving from central British Columbia to outside London UK. I would like to get a rough idea of the cost of moving items so that I can narrow my choices for what stays and what goes. I would need door to door and, while I can pack boxes, I can pack large items.
To give you an idea of volume my current wish list would include:
One large sofa
Three large upholstered chairs
Four upholstered dinning chairs
Several original paintings of varying size (between 5 and 15)
One sideboard
One china cabinet
A few boxes
Thank for your help.

Posted at 13:11h, 08 OctoberHello,
How can I find approximate costs to ship some furniture from Sweden (near Gothenburg) to Toronto, Canada. Possibly a full sized sofa, coffee table, armoire, small chest of drawers, bench, 2 chairs. These would be second-hand goods (in the family) and not new. Is the cost by weight, by dimensions, or both? What is a standard size for a “container”? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Posted at 05:32h, 08 OctoberHello Mark,
I have 12’x10’x10′ storage locker that’s full of our (professionally packed) furniture/belongings. It’s in NY and needs to go to San Francisco. It looks like you don’t do domestic US moves; could recommend someone who’d provide a similar UPakWeShip service for domestic moves (I can load and unload the boxes/furniture, I just need someone to drive them cross-country).
Thanks a lot. –Tom

Can you please tell me the approximate cost (ball park) for shipping a 20′ container of household goods from one of the Great Lakes to Germany? Thank you.

Posted at 16:20h, 04 OctoberI need to ship a fishing boat to Sweden. It is 12 ft long. How can I ship it?
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 17:00h, 04 OctoberHello CJ, if its less than 7 feet wide it would fit in a shipping container but bear in mind if its on a trailer then the wheel width is often wider than the boat! If its too wide then I suggest Googling Wallenius Lines and contacting their local office and get a roll on roll off price where you drop it off at the origin port and collect it at a Swedish port after clearing customs. Good Luck, Cheers The Moving Doc

The Moving Doctor
Posted at 18:36h, 04 OctoberThe cheapest way CJ, to move this I think would be to contact Wallenius who has an office in Los Angeles, if not try a company called Schumacher cargo that ship cars to Sweden and might have a way of placing your boat on top of the cars, hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 13:25h, 04 OctoberI am trying to ship 2 hanging chairs from USA (St Augustine in Florida, Jacksonville the nearest port) to the UK (Somerset, nearest port Southampton). They each weigh 36 lb (16.33kg) and are each 48″ long, 37″ wide & 30″ high. (They don’t nest within each other.) I’m happy to wait many weeks to receive the items and can collect from the port in the UK. It’s not so easy to get them delivered to the port in Jacksonville. Posted at 22:45h, 02 OctoberMy neighbor would like to ship two (2) small recliner chairs from Margate, FL 33063 to Staten Island, NY 10314.
We have no idea how to go about this.
They are white so they would have to be covered in plastic to stay clean. Will the moving company do that?
They would need to be picked up at her residence.
What kind of cost would there be for this type of shipping?
Who do you contact for this service?
Many thanks for any info you can provide. I’m sure there are many questions that I didn’t ask.

Posted at 14:28h, 03 OctoberHello Annie, there are many moving companies that move the “snow birds” up and down the east coast between Florida and New York. I would Google a few check out their references and see who has a good price with the service you need. I know All My Sons, Golds and Mini Movers all do this route back n fourth a lot. Good luck, cheers The Moving Doc

Posted at 19:57h, 01 OctoberI am considering moving from LA, California to Melbourne, Australia. If I want to pack and move at least ten pieces of larger furniture, at least eight pieces of art and about twenty five larger boxes, what would be a range of cost for crating and moving it over there? If you have any type of pricing or companies that I could contact, please, share them with me as it would be greatly appreciated!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:19h, 01 OctoberHello Mary, If you did one of our 20 foot shipping containers that you load and we then ship through to your door in Melbourne, price would be about $4400 The only extra being the quarantine examination fee which you have to pay in Melbourne of about AUS600 This is for a self pack and load option. A full pack and load option would be nearer $8,000 If you want to get a few quotes I suggest trying Allied, United, Crown as 3 other trusted companies but obviously I think UPakWeShip is the best! 🙂 Cheers The Moving Dr
ps I’ll get Stephanie in our office to give you an exact quote, cheers The Moving Dr

I would like to ship part of a household from Cardiff U.K, to Melbourne Australia. Biggest items are 1x chaise longue, 1x sofa bed and 2x rugs. I’m not taking anything else in the way of furniture or crockery etc. I have picture frames and mirrors to ship too, and the rest would be clothes and shoes. Just trying to get a rough estimate of how much it’s going to cost….

Posted at 14:21h, 01 OctoberHi!
Currently moving from SC to Frankfort Germany…
I have about 7 wardrobe boxes (large) and a few small other boxes…What would be my best / cheapest option? I am looking to do this next week!
Thanks!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:26h, 01 OctoberHello Bes Either the U Box or shared container service would be best. Personally I think wardrobe boxesa are over rated, they take up a big volume and your pretty much going to have to put your suits etc through the dry cleaners the other end anyway (would you wear something that’s been stuck in a box for 6 weeks?) so why not pack them in smaller boxes or better still use vacuum packs. You would probably then get everything in a U Box. I have emailed you the prices and options, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 06:12h, 01 OctoberHi!
I am selling my house in SF CA (94122) and need to ship some of the more beloved items to Ibiza Spain where I live. Its as island in the Balearics.
A queen bed + mattress, a day bed + mattress, a few chairs, art (some large paintings), a few lamps, books, kitchen stuff….
Do you pack? large valuable paintings (value approx 20,000$, not a fortune, but still..)
I don’t know how to quantify it all to get a quote.
I’d think it is a partial container.
Can you get me started?
I hope so, its a bewildering field.

Posted at 20:37h, 01 OctoberHello Anna, as you are looking at shipping some large furniture I think giving you a self load 20 foot shipping container quote would be best for you. I think sending this via a consolidation would not save you much and would be too much handling and transshipping on your items. I’ll get Stephanie in our office to drop you an email with some prices. Feel free to call me as well if you need any help and advise, cheers The Moving Dr

Posted at 16:39h, 30 SeptemberHI there, I am looking for a quote on relocating from southern california to Bari, Italy. We do not have a set date as I am in the process of learning the budget.
What are the options for container size? will this be a pod to stick all my belongings in? or do I pack everything in individual boxes?
a full details intinerary of this packing/shipping process would be greatly appreciated
Bianca
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 17:23h, 30 SeptemberHello Bianca, I’ll email you our part load rates to Italy where yes everything will need to be in boxes. We do have pod type things that are 20ft x 8 foot by 8’6″ (about the size of a single garage that you can load all your furniture and boxes into. In order for us to quote you on one of these 20 foot shipping containers door to door, we would need to know the origin city and zip code please, then we can work out a lump sum price for the container which will help you for your budget. Please let me know, cheers The Moving Dr move@upakweship.com

Posted at 14:20h, 30 Septemberhi, i just spent 2 years living in nyc and am now travelling for a few months before moving back to sydney. all my personal belongings are packed up and ready to be shipped, currently sitting in a storage unit in chelsea, nyc. there are about 15-20 boxes, all similar sizes (standard packing box, 46x46x46) with no furniture or anything else strange/large.
i need to find an economical way of sending these boxes back to sydney – don’t care how long it takes and so am looking for maybe a shared container option but its a minefield out there with so many options and none of these companies i’ve ever heard of.
can you recommend anything?
thanks in advance.
regards
joe
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 16:33h, 30 SeptemberHello Joe, not sure of your measurements there unless your saying that’s the total volume of all the boxes stacked together, if so that makes 56 cubic feet. Our terminal to door prices are 31-50 cubic feet $970 or 51-100 cubic feet $1205.00 Yes it can be a mine field but always make sure you go with a company that has its own bond and license through the Federal Maritime Commission. If anything goes wrong at least you have a very active part of the government consumer protection on your side and protecting you! I will be emailing you our options, hopefully you have already heard of UPakWeShip or seen its great reviews! Cheers The Moving Dr

Hoping you could help me out with a quote or recommendation for shipping some furniture from Paris to Sydney – it would be around 5 piece of furniture (chest of drawers, trunk, coffee table, side board). Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks!

Posted at 12:04h, 30 SeptemberHi there,
I live in Toronto, Canada and am planning to order a pallet of glass bottles to be shipped here. The company is located in Rotterdam, Netherlands and do not have heat treated pallets. How can I co-ordinate with them to get the correct heat treated pallet to load onto a ship and import to Toronto Canada.

Posted at 16:44h, 30 SeptemberHello Ahmed, tell them to buy plastic pallets or buy pallets from any main pallet distributor as these days they are all heat treated pretty much. If they want your order then they need to load them on heat treated pallets! Yes? Cheers The Moving Doc
