Posted at 03:49h, 24 OctoberHi!
I’m moving from Houston, TX to Gothenburg, Sweden. What would be the approximate cost and time needed to ship about 10 boxes of household items (clothes, kitchen wares), a queen size bed and mattress, a stereo and 5 bicycles (packed in bike boxes)
Thanks for the help!

Posted at 21:52h, 20 OctoberHey there I was wondering if you guys ship to South Africa particularly Durban?
I have about 10 big boxes roughly 100lbs each or I can break it down to 20 boxes 50lbs each. Items include mostly clothes and house hold stuff like TVs, DVD system and some furniture. How much would that cost me just an estimate? And how long will it take to get there? Our postal service is currently on strike and I don’t really trust them, how will I know of my goods will arrive safely? Will the receiver have to pay additional fees?
Thank you.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:09h, 21 OctoberHello, yes we do ship to Durban SA from most countries, trouble is you do not mention where you are! I will pass this over to Chris Corder in our office to email you to find out a few more details and then give you some price and service options, cheers The Moving Doctor.

Posted at 18:13h, 19 OctoberHello, I have a small (approx. 15-17 moving boxes) amount of personal goods to ship from the Netherlands to Philadelphia; is this something you could price for me, or assist with? Would love to set up a conversation with you to go over the details.
Thanks!

Posted at 15:17h, 20 OctoberHello Colin, we certainly can. Chris Corder in our office here works that route and I will get him to drop you an email and introduce himself and give you some rates and service options, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 21:47h, 16 OctoberWe are moving to England next summer, and I would like to be able to take some of our furniture with us, but I don’t know how cost effective it would be. Do you have a break down of how much it would cost by furniture piece, or weight, or cost by crate (8x8x10 space for example)?
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 17:22h, 17 OctoberHello Tamara, we certainly do, I’ll get Pete to email you various service options and rates so you can figure out what is worth taking, way in advance. My personal advice is either take the lot and ship a 20 foot shipping container or sell the furniture and just take your personal bits n pieces in boxes. Anything in between can get pricey per item. Cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 03:35h, 15 OctoberHi there,
We might move back from San Francisco to Munich.
We have some furniture we would like to take with us like 2 tables, chairs, hifi system, instruments and some paintings. We are not sure about our car. I guess most likely not.
We were wondering what the price point might be and if it would be worth it. We would not be in a hurry to have things shipped asap and the move might take place in December or January. However we would like to have everything insured and get a feeling for price, what to consider, timeline and such.
Thanks

Posted at 15:57h, 14 OctoberHow many workers do containers ship have?
2, How many doctors are suppose to be on board.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:17h, 15 OctoberHello Rey, interesting question…
I have never been on a container ship myself but after watching Captain Philips and reading a few books I believe they have a crew of about 15. They work very long hours and it doesn’t sound very glamorous at all. Typically only the captain gets free use of the internet and the captain checks and reads all crew emails before being sent out. Most large shipping companies like Maersk Line do not allow alcohol on board either. I don’t believe they have an actual Doctor on board but they do have staff trained in EMS / first aid procedures.
I hope that helps, cheers The Moving Doctor.

I’m trying to find a list of rates, services, procedures, and protocols for possibly using your service to move from our storage in Switzerland back to the U.S. We don’t have any furniture, but do have books, clothes, bikes, and skis.
Please let me know.
The Moving Doctor

Posted at 19:48h, 09 OctoberHi – we are planning to move from San Francisco, California to Helsinki, Finland within the next year. We are trying to decide if it makes sense to ship our furniture, or sell most of it and just take our essentials. Could you please help us with some pricing options so we can make a decision?
Thank you!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 15:43h, 10 OctoberHello Suzan, thank you for the question! It’s great you are starting to plan already. I’ll have Pete in our office send you our ‘shared container services’ and Stephanie in our office send you a self load container service quote. Generally if you have one or two bits of furniture, one of our self load crates is a great option. If you’ll be wanting to take some more furniture, it makes sense to take all of it and use a self load container. Thanks again -Moving Doctor

Posted at 12:58h, 08 OctoberHello Norman, we can certainly help you with your upcoming move to Sydney. Based on you having the crib, high chair, and I’m sure a few other bits, our very popular U-Cube 50 cubic foot self load crate sounds like the perfect match for your needs. I’ll have Pete in our office send you all the information and details, and we’ll take it from there! Cheers -Move Doc

Posted at 21:48h, 07 OctoberWe are moving to Manila, Philippines next year and I just want to ask how much is it to ship one PODS, regular size crate, from San Diego to Manila. If you can give me an estimate onboth door to door or terminal to terminal , that will be great. Thanks!
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:03h, 08 OctoberHello Karren, thank you for the question, we have our own U-Pod self load crate, which is not the same as PODS (a domestic service) however it’s a similar idea geared towards international shipping. Take a look at our slide show presentation on UPakTV: https://www.slideshare.net/marknash22/u-pod-presentation-by-upakweship and I’ll have Pete contact you with a quote and options. Posted at 21:13h, 04 OctoberI am helping a friend research his options for shipping his belongings to Costa Rica from Spokane, WA. He won’t be taking large furniture, but does have some trunks, luggage and boxes. I would estimate he could fit his belongings into a crate – possibly 100-150 cu. ft. – not sure of weight, but I wild guess would be 300 lbs. What would be his best options? He would like to pack himself and have delivered to his residence if possible. He will be living near the port of Limon (about 20-25 miles from there.)

Posted at 13:36h, 06 OctoberHello Sheri, thanks for the message, Pete in our office here will be in touch with you and offer you some small self pack and load container options. Cheers The Moving Doctor.

I don’t have much money and need to do it the cheapest way possible.
guesstimate: 15 to 20 boxes 18x18x18″ each
i need someone to pick up, do the custom clearance, ship, do the custom clearance at the other end and house deliver .
Your help is greatly appreciated, as I am desperate… (UPS charges something like $7000)

Posted at 12:20h, 02 OctoberI need to ship from USA to England Christmas Village pieces, right now it’s in about 12 cubic feet. Ineed some quotes and what should I use to ship in? Is standard moving boxes ok?
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Sandra
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 12:53h, 02 OctoberHello Sandra, I would say yes if they for in moving boxes then that would be great to pack them into. Make sure if they are fragile to wrap them in plenty of bubble wrap and make sure boxes are full and any gaps filled with bubble wrap or crushed up paper so that the boxes hold their shape and do not crush. If you are sending these over for re sale and are not moving you will be charged duty and taxes (aprox 30% of the CIF value) Also of note if you need these over before Christmas then Airfreight would be the safest way to go now. I’ll get Peter in our office to email you and give you some prices, cheers The Moving Doctor.

Posted at 22:03h, 01 OctoberHello,
I am looking at possible moving furniture to Dubrovnik, Croatia. It is a small number of items, but large ones; tentatively, the list would look something like: full-sized iron bed, couch, 1ox13 foot rug, stone kitchen sink, 5 linear feet of solid-wood kitchen cabinets, medium-sized bedroom armoire, medium-sized kitchen table and four chairs, easy chair and ottoman, plus ten boxes.
Thank you,
Maria

Posted at 12:48h, 02 OctoberHello Maria, I would think our 20 foot self load shipping container might be the best way to go but unfortunately you do not tell us where you are moving this from. I’ll get Stephanie in our office to email you and get some more details so we can then give you a quote, cheers The Moving Doctor.

Posted at 01:09h, 30 SeptemberHi there,
I am moving from Sydney, Australia to Honolulu, Hawaii. I have a fairly small shipment of household goods (LCL at 1.4 cubic meters) and the quotes I have received fluctuate wildly. Any suggestions on the best method to ship a small amount of personal household items from Sydney to Hawaii would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
Nicole
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:14h, 30 SeptemberI would think in this case, you best method would be a terminal to terminal service where you pack all your items into boxes and drop off at a terminal in Sydney and then clear it through customs in Honolulu, pay the port charges and collect it from the terminal in Honolulu.
I will get Chris in our office to email you and give you some prices, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 20:37h, 29 SeptemberHello,

Vincent
Posted at 09:44h, 29 SeptemberHi Mark,
I used to live in San Francisco, CA, and now live im Europe, in Vienna, Austria. I still have plenty of stuffs in a storage room in SF, and I would like to empty that storage room and move / have sent things from SF to Vienna. I will be in SF from the 21st to the 27th of October and am decided to manage that moving at that moment.
I heard it was possible to have boxes and possibly pieces of furniture sent by sea, and that it was the most affordable solution. (Of course, there is no seashore in Austria (except through Danube River) and there will be probably a road part.) The shipping can last long, it is not a problem for me, even if it some months, I do not care (my stuffs have been stored for more than 4 years by now), provided the things do not arrive at a moment of break, when I live Vienna for some days or weeks (like in summer).
What do I want to be sent? I’d say 7-8 boxes of books and 7-8 boxes of diverse things, less heavy than books. A box is about 30cm x 30cm x 40 cm large (standard size, it seems to me). I cannot figure out the weight of all that, but I imagine you can. Depending of the price, I could have a coach sent, and maybe four chairs. But what I need is to have a grosso modo idea of what it would cost to me.
Best regards,
Vincent.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:13h, 29 SeptemberHello Vincent, we can work out rates for shipping this as a shared load and also if you loaded your own shipping container. I will get Peter and Stephanie to send you some prices and service options. You normally need to be moving your things over within 6 months of your arrival so you might be having to pay some duties and taxes but you can keep the used values of items real low and used household items can be sentimental rather than valuable. Anyway we will be in touch, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 04:19h, 29 SeptemberHi there, Im planning on moving from Sydney, Australia to Tampa, Florida. I have a 1 bedroom flat of furniture – bed, couch, tables, boxes etc. I don’t think its enough to fill a 20 foot container, maybe half a container or so… Can I please get an estimate on cost and how long it’d roughly take to arrive?
Thanks in advance. cheers, Aaron

Posted at 14:14h, 29 SeptemberHello Aaron, I’ll get Chris here to give you shared and also a load your own container price. He will be in touch asap, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 12:42h, 28 SeptemberI’ll be moving two small pieces of furniture [a small chest and a wooden chair], a few pieces of crockery and porcelain, one family picture [an oil painting of my grandfather], and a set of flatware from Texas to Cambridgeshire, UK. They are pieces which have been in my family for a long time, belonging originally to my grandmother. I’d estimate the weight of the shipment to be approximately 300 pounds [140 kg] or less. Also, will I need to have documentation to show that the pieces are inherited in order not to pay an import tax? I would appreciate your help with a ballpark estimate for the cost of the shipment. I’d also be interested what I’ll need as documentation in order to ship these items. Thanks.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:20h, 29 SeptemberHello Karen we can send you some shipping prices and service options. Yes you will need to produce a will or letter from lawyer t avoid import duty and taxes. Pete can send you some prices and advise you more, he will be in touch asap, cheers The Moving Doctor

I would be happy about a prompt answer since I have to decide soon. Thank you! Allan Guilpain

Posted at 11:56h, 26 SeptemberI need a dolls house included in shipping. It is roughly 100cm x 50cm x 75cm w:15kg. The rest of my stuff is boxes, however two boxes contain turntables and one box contains speakers. I need insurance for the turntables (value £500 for both of them) and speakers (£300 for the pair). Is it worth packing everything and posting it, or getting it shipped? I need to do this on a budget.

The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:34h, 24 SeptemberHello Mark, we can certainly quote you for positioning a container at your loading point for you to load an us to ship to Melbourne. Make sure however that you check all is ok with the authorities in Melbourne for importing all these bikes and check the amount of duties and taxes and import permit costs in advance of buying any bikes and shipping them over. You will also need a customs broker to clear the bikes upon arrival in Melbourne and an approved warehouse for the bikes to be unloaded and put through the AQIS examination.
If you want a shipping quote let me know where you are thinking of loading the bikes and we can email you a quote, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 08:31h, 23 SeptemberHi, my son is moving back to the UK from Moscow and needs to get his gear back here. Moving it out there was not a big deal as it was done through his company but he now has to get it back independently. He shouldn’t have a huge load, not furniture etc – the odd trunk perhaps but mostly clothing and personal items etc. What’s the cheapest way of doing this and how do we go about organising it – looking for where to start really? Posted at 13:51h, 23 SeptemberHello Sue, yes getting things from Russia can be a bit tricky. If its only a few boxes I would use DHL, UPS or FEDEX. If its too large for that try one of these companies….
AGS Froesch http://www.agsfroesch.com or Globalink Logistics n.stepanova@globalinkllc.com or Interdean http://www.interdean.com They are all experienced movers relocating people from Russia TO Europe.
Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 17:37h, 22 SeptemberHi Mark
We have a lot of photographic equipment to ship from Clermont, FL to Guernsey. What is the best way to package photographic equipment and are you able to ship these items with the batteries intact. I understand that USPS won’t ship parcels that contain lithium batteries.
How long will it take for a couple of boxes to reach Guernsey? Would it be possible to send me a price list, or do you need a list of what is being shipped first?
Thanks for your help.
Marion
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:58h, 23 SeptemberHello Marion if its just a couple of boxes it will be cheaper by air but yes for airfreight you are meant to take out the lithium batteries. I will pass this on to Ken who handles our Air freight and can advise you more, cheers The Moving Doctor

Thank you

Posted at 13:29h, 17 SeptemberHello Karen, yes that is correct, the plate needs to be up to date in order for it to be allowed to be loaded onto a ship otherwise it is not deemed to be seaworthy. No way around it I’m afraid. Cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 08:08h, 15 SeptemberHello, 🙂
I’m moving back to the states from Brussels and would like to now how much it would cost to ship to New York.
Is there a price per pound? or by volume?
Say I have 10 medium size boxes to ship from Brussels Belgium to Poughkeepsie New York.
Thanks!

Posted at 13:15h, 15 SeptemberHello Dierdre, we can give you a lump sum door to door price for this rather than quoting you per pound so its easier for you to budget up the costs. I’ll get Chris in our office to email you some prices and options, cheers The Moving Doctor.

Posted at 11:25h, 13 SeptemberHow soon do you require a reservation for an International move. and what is the normal deposit for shipping a smaller container. I am new to all of this. I will just mainly have boxes and a carpet. to ship. no furniture

The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:20h, 15 SeptemberHello Janelle, we would like a weeks notice if possible but can pull the stops out and move you quicker if you need, but a week is enough time for us to get all the paperwork done stress free! I’ll get Pete in our office to drop you a line to see if you have any other questions or need rates. For most of our services we don’t charge a deposit unless you are ordering one of our containers to your home that you are keeping to load for a few days before we come and collect it. If that’s the case we normally charge $200 deposit just in case you run off with our container 🙂

Posted at 01:00h, 12 SeptemberHi,
My partner and I are moving from Spokane USA to the UK. We are planning to take clothes, books and personal belongings but no furniture. We estimate that we will have approximately ten 18″ boxes.
Please can you give us advice on what options are available and the costs?
Many Thanks.
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:15h, 12 SeptemberHello Dave, we have a few options for you. You could drop off at our terminal or we can collect from your residence. Also you might be interested in loading our 50 cubic foot U Cube container that we send out to you to load. We will then come back at a later date, collect it and ship it through to your driveway in the UK for a lump sum price. I’ll get Pete in our office to contact you on email to further explain options and prices, cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 17:54h, 11 SeptemberHi Mark,
Just wondering if it’s worth shipping my 3 bedroom villa (would all fit into 20′ container) worth of furniture (some of which is in-expensive ikea furniture) from Abu Dhabi, UAE to CT, USA. Or should I sell for cheap here and start over back in USA?
Any ideas on how much it would cost.
Thanks
B.
P.S we would have to pay for it to be put into storage it CT for min 3 months until we set get a house there.

Posted at 13:18h, 12 SeptemberHello Brigitte, well lets work out a quote for you to load the container in Abu Dhabi and us ship it to you in CT. Once it arrives you will have to find a self storage place to unload it into if you need it stored. I’ll get Chris Corder in our office to email you asap. Once you get a quote you will be able to hopefully decide whether its worth shipping it all back or not! Cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 10:28h, 11 SeptemberDear Mark,
I need to move three barrel from the Bahamas to Budapest. Do you have any suggestion?
yours truly
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:48h, 11 SeptemberHello Akos, we don’t have a service from The Bahamas but do from the USA so if you can get them over here, we could then ship them for you. Alternatively see if you can get a quote from local companies see here https://www.bahamaslocal.com/category/607/10/default/1/Packing_and_Moving_Companies.html They should be able to quote you through to Budapest. Posted at 00:04h, 11 SeptemberHello Mark this is Richard Callari. I am thinking about buying a 1965 CZ dirt bike, approx 100kg. It is located in Slovakia, and I need it in Fort Lauderdale/Miami Florida USA. Can you provide these services for safe secure transportation and details . Thank you
The Moving Doctor
Posted at 13:53h, 11 SeptemberHello Richard, The good news is you wont have any issues with Customs as its a Historic bike and therefore doesn’t have to be up to date with EPA standards etc. The bad news is we have no means of shipping this from Slovakia. May be you could try some local companies like AGS MOVERS http://www.ags-worlwide-movers.com , GESCHWANTNER http://www.geschwandtner.at OR INTERDEAN http://www.interdean.com
These companies all have offices in Slovakia and should be able to quote you for shipping to Miami. Cheers The Moving Doctor

Posted at 17:47h, 08 SeptemberHi Mr. Nash,
My small family and I live in a flat in Lisbon, Portugal and are looking to move to The UK (Brighton or Bristol) along with all of our things. This does not include any full size mattresses or anything of similar size but does include many chairs, tables, shelves, books etc etc. I am sure that it would all fit inside a small van but was wondering if there is a cheaper way (up until now I have been quoted upwards of 3000 pounds). I would be very grateful for any info you might have.
Best regards,
Brennan

Posted at 16:02h, 08 SeptemberHi Doc –
I am trying to calculate expected shipping charges for two loudspeakers. I haven’t sold them yet but they were orignally shipped in reinforced & thick cardboard boxes with special corners and vertical “L” shaped cardboard pieces that ran from top corners to bottom corner pieces. These speakers are roughly:
45.5″ High X 15.5″Deep X 25″ Wide and weigh 180 lbs each (Qty 2)
The Grill cloths for each speaker are 43″ High X 4″ Deep X 23″ Wide and weigh about 5″each (Qty 2)
How do I estimate shipping expenses across the US?
I would appreciate any advice ?
Regards,
SM Lange

Posted at 15:22h, 09 SeptemberHello Sandy, your best bet is going to somewhere like Mail Box etc, Pakmail or a Fedex or UPS store and getting prices. You can google them to see who has a shop near you. Would be best if you took one in to show them so you got an accurate price.
Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Doctor
