    Hi,

I am looking to move a wooden crate containing a glass item by sea (as it is cheaper) from Nelspruit, South Africa to Toronto Canada (Collingwood). The measurements are 69 x 69 x40 and when packed will weigh 15kgs (or so). I will also require this item to be insured for approximately £4000.

Could you please let me know what the costs would be and whom I could contact regarding this shipment.

    Many thanks

Hi Peter, the cheapest way would be if you drop this 27 cubic feet of bobes at our San Diego Terminal, we can ship them over to Europe, clear customs and deliver to your curbside / driveway for $810. Thats all inclusive through to your residence! Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr

If you are bringing a lot of furniture our self load 20 foot container door to door shipping service might be a good fit for you. We need your origin and destination city / post code though for this quote but to gibe you an average idea it will probably be between $4000 – $4500 for a 20 foot container.

Hello Karron, It doesnt say where you are moving from so its a little hard to comment but as a general rule If you are on a tight budget I suggest leaving your furniture behind and just taking your personal items in boxes only. You can buy new kiddies beds in Ikea London when you get there cheaper than the moving cost. Beds are a different size in Europe compared with the USA, (not sure about other Countries) so in the long run I dont think its worth shipping. Hope this helps and let us know where you are moving from and we can send you some shipping prices, cheers The Moving Dr, Email: move@upakweship.com

    G’day Mark,
I’m an Australian who has been living in The Netherlands for the last 9 years. It is time to return home. I have obtained quite a few items pertaining to my career, which I would want to ship back to Australia. I am a professional musician, and my instrument is Drums/Percussion. So, I would like to ship back, Musical Instruments, Educational Books, Computer equipment, clothing…….and perhaps a mini-bus/van. The vehicle’s dimensions are 2.24 metres wide & approx 2.2 metres high, and approx 4.75 metres long. The vehicle was built in 2003, and it is perfect for my occupation….and almost unavailable in Australia.

    Any advice is very useful.

    Sincerely,

Weight may be 150 pounds (flexible as well). The crate would be filled with personal items such as books, sport gear, etc.
I am in no hurry to receive the box in France, I would just like to not have to leave so much personal items behind. Can you ship this for me? At what rate?

Alternatively we have a U Box that you can load at your home and we can ship that through to your residence for $1274

We are moving a small amount of items from St Paul, MN to Cusco Peru. I am guessing it will be 5-10 medium size boxes of household items (no furniture). I imagine the total weight will be between 100-200 pounds. I am struggling to find the right shipping option for us. Cargo shipping seems to require reserving a full container. There must be an affordable way to get are stuff to Peru. We can pack the items we need immediately in our luggage, so we can wait for the stuff we are shipping to arrive later.

Posted at 14:04h, 10 April Reply

Hello yes we can ship this for you but it needs to be wrapped in shrink wrap or put in a plastic sofa bag and then boxed up in a sofa box or wrapped in cardboard and taped around at least 2 times thick for protection. If you dont pack it properly in the first place there is no point wasting the money in shipping it. Our price for receiving this at our terminal in NY and shipping to your door in Holland would be $1256.00 Hope that helps, cheers Moving Dr

I’m buying it at a store in NY so I’m not there to arrange for transport to the terminal in NY.

Does this include custom handling services as well?

I think you can get your store to deliver it to our terminal for no extra charge where as we would charge an additional $200 for collecting it. Please make sure it is in a box and not just shrink wrapped.
Yes price includes shipping, customs clearance and delivery. It does not however include the duties and taxes you will have to pay over there which will be abour 20% VAT plus 5% taxes and handling.

I suggest asking the local movers in Calgary for prices or if you can pack them up in bubble wrap and cardboard may be try asking a trucking company like ABF or Roadway or even PODS. Hello Liz, well starting here and asking UPakWeShip is a very good start! I have emailed you some options and prices, take a look and let us know what you think and if you have any questions. Just to give you an idea though, UPakWeShip saves you money if you pack your things yourself so you will have to buy some plastic covers and double bag your sofa and matress and then wrap in cardboard or moving blankets. If that sounds a bit tricky I suggest leaving the furniture and just taking your personal items that are easy to pack up and put in cardboard boxes. Unless your matress and sofa are really good quality or have special memories, I think you might be better leaving them behind and saving the $1500 and buy new when you get to England! They might not fit in Hull anyway plus the bedding size is different in UK. Hope this helps, cheers Moving Doc

Hi, I am shipping some of my household items from Vancouver Canada to Auckland New Zealand. It consists of two boxes of framed prints, a small table (disassembled), 4 pub chairs, 2 suitcases and 4 small boxes, a guitar in hard case, 2 4-man tents and an excercise bench (folded flat, no weights).
I am remaining in Vancouver and shipping this stuff for my family to store in NZ.
What is the cheapest/best way to send these items? I have had a quote for with a base fee of $1500 for an international move. That doesn’t include anything – it’s just the base fee starts at $1500. That seems excessive to me. Any advice on cheapest/best movers?

How far ahead do I need to reserve a UCrate or UBox? I’m not sure exactly how much space I need. Is it possible to reserve one or two weeks in advance once everything is packed and I know how much space I need? Also, how long does it typically take for a UCrate to move from Norfolk, VA to Ireland?

Hello Rinda, we like at least one weeks notice please. I suggest measuring the dimensions out on your living room wall and floor using blue masking tape and building your own imaginery crate or U Box so that you get a good idea of what you will need before ordering. Transit time VA to Ireland should be 7-8 weeks through to door. Good luck with the packing, cheers The Moving Dr

Hello Sam, rates and services from USA to Canada are generally handles by the domestic movers rather than the ones like us specialising in International. I know it is an International move but its more like long distance trucking rather than shipping which is why the big long distance movers offer this service. You can get prices from Allied or Mayflower or if that is too expensive you could try one of the self load container options like Pods or ABF. Lastly on the cars I am not too sure but would suggest googling car transportes USA to Canada and see what comes up. I would def go with an actual company that has trucks though rather than a middle man / broker so you have more control. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Doc

Hello Susan, as all our prices for the shared container service are in US$ per cuboc foot it might just be easier for me to give you the conversion formula. 35.35 cubic feet = 1 cubic meter. If you need any particular measurement converted please click here to our measurement converter page and it will work out inches to cubic feet or cm to cubic meters or whatever you need. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr
PS 155cm is 61.0236 inches, i just googled it as I didnt know!

Yes if its a pick up truck you could put some boxes in the bed and on the back seats if it goes in a shared container service. Make sure the truck is permitted to be imported into NZ in advance though. Cheers Moving Dr

    Hi there,
What is a ball park quote to send a 20 foot shipping container from Florida to Sydney, Australia? The cargo would be an 18.5 foot sailing boat.
    Cheers,
    Joe

We can give you a 20ft container price if you need but please be aware that most boats beam (width) is to wide to fit in a container and if it is on a trailer then the wheels are too wide. If you need the measurements of a standard shipping container you can click here to get all the specs.
If you still think it will fit, please email Stephanie in our office and give her the origin zip code where you will need the container for you to load and she can give you a rate to Sydney Port. Her email is exports@eurousa.us
If this wont fit we can quote you based on a roll on roll off service where the boat is towed on its trailer on to the ship and carried that way to Sydney. Hope that helps, Cheers The Moving Dr

Hello Christine, sorry I’m not totally following you here…. Are you moving from USA to Ireland or just visiting USA and thninking about buying some things here?
If you want to buy things here you might be able to find a store that does not charge you tax providing the store delivers direct to our export terminal and we provide a bill of lading to prove its been exported. You will however have to pay duties and vat on the cost, insurance and shipping value when it gets to Ireland.
I hope this is what you need, feel free to call or email me if this was not what you were looking for, cheers The Moving Dr

I am moving back to Germany from Ohio. Do I have to wait until I am there to have everything delivered? Can it be delivered to my parents house where I will live. I would like to ship my stuff in advance of leaving so I can have it when I get there. Also, what is the address to the Columbus Ohio terminal?

More questions will follow, especially about customs.

Hello Gabriele, yes we can deliver to your parents house but technicaly you are meant to be in the Germany or at least declare you are there so that we can clear the shipment through customs. I can explain further if you would like to call me; 1 866 868 6386 cheers Mark
oh also, we give out the actual terminal addresses after we get your online booking and the documents are completed between us. THats our way of making sure everyone fills out the right paperwork before they depart the country 🙂

Hello Richard, I am passing this on to our EU and UK office to see what they can come up with. Please make sure though that you compare apples to apples as often a cheap price can mean something in the quote is missing so read the small print! Our offices will be in touch though to give you a price, cheers The Moving Dr

    Hello,

My husband and I are moving from Rome, Italy to New Haven, USA. We are willing to drop things off/pick things up near or at both locations, if it saves us on the cost. We are also not in a hurry to receive the shipment back in the US. We want to ship personal belongings only, no furniture, mostly books and clothes. About 20-25 middle sized boxes. We would be very grateful for a cost estimate! Also, what are the usual additional costs/taxes at the ports that we may expect?

    Thank you so very much!
    Nina and Gabriel

Hello Nina, Chris in our office here can help you with this. I have passed this message on to him so he can contact you. If you get a quote through to door then its fairly all inclusive, but although cheaper up front if you pay just to arrival a terminal like New York at the destination you will have to pay for customs clearance and port / hand over fees but it will still be cheaper than a full delivery service and Chris can advise the different prices and options, cheers The Moving Dr.

My son is moving from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to New Haven CT. He will packup around 15 April 2013 then he needs to ship his goods about 10 August to the US. He will have approximately 208cu ft of household goods (I moved him in a Uhaul from Calgary to Toronto that’s how I know how much stuff he has). Could you please let me know what would be the most inexpensive way to move his household goods.
    Thank you

Hello Jean, we dont have a service for furniture coming from Canada to USA, only boxes. I think if you have 208 cubic feet you probably have some furniture in the shipment as well. If that is the case the Van Lines like Allied, Atlas, United are probably your best bet. If it is just boxes please email Chris in our office at service@eurousa.us and he can do a quote for you, cheers The Moving Dr

    Good morning!

My husband and I have been living in Boston, MA for two years and will be moving back to England this summer. We really have very little that we want to send, mostly clothes, books, dvds etc. We will not be bringing any furniture or larger items.

What’s our cheapest shipping option? We are not worried about speed at all as we are happy to ship any number of weeks in advance of our move.

    Thanks for your help!

    • The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:18h, 28 March Reply

Hello Sarah, our best rates through to door are our baggage rates for boxes, plastic boxes, suitcases or trunks. If you dropped your items at our terminal in Boston, we could ship up to 30 cubic feet of things for $654 and up to 50 cubic feet for $860. An average suitcase is 5 cubic feet so that might help you get an idea of the cubic feet. I will email you all our rates and options but if you just have a few boxes this is the most economic way to ship things and it is all inclusive through to your curbside anywhere in England. Hope that helps, cheers Mark

Question on moving furniture, in addition to boxed possessions. I intend to move a bed, kitchen table, six chairs, coffee table, leather chair and four or five cabinets. Are these items usually boxed? Are wooden boxes built for pieces of furniture? Also, it is more cost effective to move a car in one container with household items or to have it shipped separately?
By the way, my move will be from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Tavira, Portugal at the end of this year or in the spring of 2014.
    Thank you

Hello Alexis, if you have a car and furniture, our self load 20ft shiping container would be your best option. I can work out a quote for you if you would like. I just need the zip code in NM and the make, age and model of the car please. Email to mark@eurousa.us If you call we can also explain how you can load a car into a container.Cheers Mark

I am told you require a “booking” agreement BEFORE you even have sent the contracts for the customer to sign. This MUST be a misunderstanding. I would never recommend a friend sign with ANY company before they have READ the legal requirements they’re agreeing to comply with.

    What’s the story?

    • The Moving Doctor
Posted at 14:09h, 28 March Reply

Hello Mark, so we get all the right information, we ask our customers to fill out our online booking form and submit the details on our web site.
As soon as we receive this booking, we email a contract to the customer outlining what we will be doing and at what cost. Once you sign that so we are both in agreement, we get everything booked up and email you the rest of the paperwork. We do not charge you anything in advance, not even a deposit so at anytime you can cancel if you dont like something in the contract at no cost to you. There is also a sample contract on our web site here.
I hope that clarifies everything and let me know if you need any further clarification, cheers The Moving Doc
