I am sorry we dont have a service out of South Africa. Most of the big International Moving Companies have services to Australia and can quote you per cbm or cubic foot. Look for names like Pickfords, Crown, Elliots can all give you a professional quotation. Cheers The Moving Dr

I bought a Keurig machine last year and I have a ton of my coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice pods. Will We are moving to Germany from California. Will I be able to ship those to Germany? Also we have 30-35 boxes, small-large sized from UHaul, a rolling tool cabinet, 2 bikes and a queen bed and box spring, would those fit in a large UCrate? Or do you think a shared container would be a better option?

    Thanks!

Posted at 19:02h, 16 May Reply

Well officially the answer has to be NO as no foodstuff is allowed in your shipment I’m afraid. I would think the shared container would work but everything needs to be in a box so you will have to get yourself a matress box for your bed ok? I’ll send you all the rates, cheers The Moving Dr

    Hi,

Is there any way I could order a UCrate but keep it for a couple of weeks?
My plan is to see how much I can fit into it and then to maybe order a UBox as well.
Also, will the UBox be cheaper if I ship it with a UCrate?

    Thank you.

Hello Nicole, the U Crate is only for loading at our terminals and has to be loaded within one day. You can keep the U Box or boxes however as long as you need so may be 2 or even 3 U Boxes might be a better option for you as you can keep these as long as you like at your house before we collect. You do get a discount on the 2nd and third too which you can see when you use our automatic rate calculator. I hope this helps your questions if not feel free to give me a call, thanks Mark

Congratulations, this is a lovely idea but I am afraid this might be a bit cost prohibitive! To give you a rough idea its going to cost at least $1,000 to get the rocking chair packed, crated and shipped through to Airizona I’m afraid. Hi. I have 35-40 boxes of various household goods that I need to ship from Arizona to the Sydney area of Australia. (Earlwood to be exact – zip code 2206) I’ve looked online at different shipping options and it seems so confusing. With the exception of approximately five of the boxes, they are all the same size 14″ x 15″ x 18″. The poundage varies with each box but none are too heavy and probably overall average about 15-20 pounds each. (Some less, some more)

I would like to ship them around the first of June but am flexible on shipping dates and can wait longer if necessary. They are safely stored with family and they are willing to keep them for a few months if necessary. I don’t need them to ship fast either…I will just be happy when they arrive safely.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much!

Posted at 19:31h, 16 May Reply

Hello Holly, I suggest either 2 U Boxes. These are our cardboard crates that we send out to you and you can load them up and we charge a lump sum price door to door which in this case one would be $1291 or go for the shared container rate of $1275 if you drop off at one of our terminals in AZ or add on an additional $200 for residential ground floor front door collection.
I will email you these options and prices as well. Call us at 1 866 868 6386 to if you would like more info and advice, cheers The Moving Dr

Hello Helen well the most economical way of shipping this small amount is going to be getting friends to bring some of it over when they come to see you! Failing that try the post office or UPS / DHL I think using a shipping / moving company like us is going to be too expensive for a small amount like that. By the time your done its going to be at least $600 shipping it so see if you can get a better price from the post office or a courier company. If not let me know, cheers The Moving Dr

        Hi,

Any items can be shipped to Australia but they will always be subjected to a quarantine examination at the point of arrival.

Items such as wicker baskets, split wood are high on the list of items that will be of special interest to Quarantine Officials – regardless of them being painted there is a potential for them to forwarded for special treatment, at the cost of the owner.

My advice would be to NOT ship them.

        Many thanks and best regards

    Hello,
I have been looking at some of the options on the website and none of them seem to really work for me. I am from the US, but I am studying in the UK so I gave up my New York apartment and placed all of my belongings into storage. I just recently got into the PhD programme at my University so I have decided to ship all of my things to the UK. I know the exact size of my Manhattan Mini Storage unit (10x10x7 = 700 cubic feet) but not the weight. It’s mostly books and clothing, but there are some flat-packed bookshelves that are about 7 feet long and two adult bicycles, so I can’t use the UBox service. I will fly over to the US for about a week in September to re-pack everything properly and get it shipped off.
I am really hoping to find a door to door service that would include customs fees and relevant paperwork and would help me get this done in the least expensive way possible. I have already lost a lot of money paying Manhattan Mini Storage to keep my things for three years so my budget is pretty tight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you,
    Katherine

Hello Katherine, some good points here! Its a little hard though to figure out exactly what you need with out knowing a bit more of what you have. 700 cubic feet is quite large and suggest you might have furniture like beds, sofas, chest etc which if is the case then you would be better self loading it all into a 20 foot shipping container. If however this is not the case and really its a bunch of boxes plus the bikes and a book shelf then I would go with the shared container price. Now for your bikes, go to a local bike store and ask them for a couple of bike boxes as new bikes get delivered in them. Wrap the bookshelves in bubble wrap and cardboard and we can then collect the boxes, shelves and bike boxes from the self store all at the same time. We will charge you the door to door shared container price per cubic foot which is all inclusive. I’ll email you the prices, cheers The Moving Dr

We can do this for you no problem. You can probably get the store to deliver to our Los Angeles terminal free as well. We will email you our shipping rates that include customs clearance and delivery to your home. Bear in mind you will have to pay VAT and taxes on the CIF Value of the Goods. That is the purchase price plus the shipping and the insurance. Taxes and VAT will be about 25% !

Are there any price adjustments for how much space I will be taking in the container? For example, for France 51-100 cubic feet costs $1,326. Will I pay less if I have only 55 cubic feet instead of 100? Can I still ship with your company through the shared container plan if I use less than 50 cubic feet?

    • The Moving Doctor

Hello Michelle, we charge a lump sum price for 51-100 cubic feet so yes if you have 55 cube it will be the same price $1326) as if you had 99 cubic feet.If you have less than 50 cubic feet we have what we call our baggage services which is basically the same service only its delivered on a pallet to your driveway or curbside or garage rather than an inside delivery. Prices from our terminals are 1-30 cube $810 and 31-50 cubic feet $1050.00

Hello Remy, we could certainly do this for you. You could get all your suppliers to deliver hopefully free of charge to our terminal in Charleston SC. We could then check the shipments in, advise you of the arrivals and model nbrs, check on how well they are packed and pack anything that needs additional packing, store items untill ready for everything to be loaded in a container and then ship the container to Panama for you.
Chris in our office will be in touch to introduce himself and get some more information before giving you some prices. Also dont forget to check with a local customs broker in Panama about customs clearance procedures and duties and taxes that will be due as this is all new stuff.

We’re considdering the option to move our things to our other address in Hervey bay, Queensland, Australia around the end of August. I think that I can discribe what items we have to move with a simple list here ,with approximate dimensions of the main items.
I’m sure we would only require some space in a container and there wouldn’t be any urgency, we have most of the contents of a ground floor 2 bed room house in Zillertal, Austria

6 or 8, 4 cubic foot boxes of kitchen items, books, dvds, linen, toys, clothes, shoes
    wardrobe 200 x 200 x 60cm
king size double bed frame and the 2 single mattresses
    high back cane chair
childs high set single bed frame and mattress
    chest of drawers 51 x 162 x 97cm
    ikea book case 150 x 150 x 40cm
    doll house 90 x 90 x 30cm
    roll top writing desk 90 x 100 x 50cm
    80 litre upright freezer
    folding bed sofa and ottoman 210 x 92 x 70cm & 65 x 65 x 40cm
    2x ikea book cases 80 x 80 x 40cm
    Ikea computer desk 70 x 72 x 50cm

Every furniture item except the writing desk, which only the legs can be removed and sofa are ikea flat pack style and can be dissasembled.

Hello Rob, well your on the cusp there! Its possible with a good packing crew but its going to be very tight. You can put a few things in the car though which might help. You will also need a strong bulkhead built keeping the boxes in place and not letting them drop down on to the car. If you are going this route I suggest you get a professional crew to pack and load for you. The alternative would be to self load a 40ft container yourself where you would have a lot more room and if your self loading the money you save on not paying for the packing and loading will more than cover the extra you will have to pay for the 40foot container. The 40foot will also mean you can spread your things out more so less furniture needs to be stacked on top of each other which can cause damage and scratches. Make sure the car goes in last and is reversed into the container. That way customs can easily see the vin number if they need tothrough the wind shield rather than going all through your stuff to find it!
I hope that helps and email me if you would like us to give you a quote on the 40ft self load. Cheers The Moving Dr move@upakweship.com

    Hi,
We’re relocating from Houston, TX to Hoensbroek, The Netherlands. I would like to ship household goods/personal items from Houston, TX to the Netherlands asap. I’ve obtained a permit from the Dutch customs already for my goods. Since I’m paying for the shipping myself, am I right to assume that I’ll save money by arranging to pick up my goods from the harbor in Rotterdam instead of having it delivered to my new home 2-3 hrs drive from there. Which reliable companies can you refer me to? Also what price range can I expect for shipping and insurance? I’m shipping 15 large boxes, 4 large suitcases, 3 bags, 1 50″ flat screen tv, 1 tv stand, 1 loveseat, 1 3-seat sofa, 2 end tables, 1 stereo, 1 pc/ screen/keyboard, 1 printer, 1 filing cabinet with 2 drawers, 1 king size bed with matrass, 2 bedside tables, 2 large bookshelves, 1 queen size matrass, 1 childrens bike, 1 portable barbeque, 1 vcr.
    Thanks for your help,
    Ayo.

Hello Ayo, I would be a bit careful getting a price to arrival Rotterdam only as you will then have to arrange your own customs clearance, pay all the port fees and hand over charges and then rent a van to go and collect it. Yes you would save some money but not a huge amount and it would be a lot more hassle. With large pieces of furniture like sofas and beds you are better using our self load 20 foot shipping container option. Even though you wont fill it up all the way its still a safe and relatively cheap way of shipping everything. The price will be about $4,000 door to door and email Stephanie, exports@eurousa.us if you need an exact price worked out for you. We have various other shared container and load your own crate or U box options but none of these are large enough to ship your bed or sofa. Cheers The Moving Dr

    Hi!

I have a new large 3seater sofa, buffet and rug that I want to ship from the UK to Australia. Quotes so far have been around £800, which is almost as much as the sofa is worth!! I really want to ship it here, is there a cheaper way?

    Thanks 🙂

Hello Lauren, not really! If you find cheaper prices they are probably missing something out like the delivery fees or port fees in Australia. I am passing this on to our UK office though to see if they can come up with any better pricing, cheers The Moving Doc

I’m moving from Ireland to France in early August and looking for a very inexpensive way to send my belongings ( very little furniture). I can get my belongings to an Irish seaport and collect them at the LaRochelle seaport. I will be traveling by ferry with my car and dog. Once at the port, how do I cheaply ship to La Rochelle? Can I take belongings (including a bicycle, a dog crate, a folding table, a couple of chairs and clothes) as excess baggage on the ferry? Can I be part of a partial load on a container? Any other ideas? Thank you. Patricia

Hello Patricia, International moving within Europe is normally done by large trucks rather than ships. As you dont have a huge amount it might be worth trying to get everything in the car with you or buy a roof rack or small trailer to tow behind. The other option is a moving company can transport this across for you and if your not in a huge hurry you can probably get a cheaper price if you tell them to hold it untill they have a truck going in that direction. I would call aound various movers in Ireland and see who has a regular service between Ireland and France and ask them for a price. Cheers The Moving Doc

Is it still possible to get the UBox delivered to a residence if I live further than 50 miles from a Terminal? And, if so what would it be likely to add to the price for delivery of the Box/possibly 2 Boxes to an address in northern Vermont? Thanks in advance.

Yes you can, as long as UPS and normal trucking companies operate in the area an extra $100 / U Box will cover the additional costs for sending out and collection, cheers The Moving Dr

I am relocating to Houston Texas USA and I want to ship all my clothes. How can I go about it?

    • The Moving Doctor
Posted at 20:42h, 02 May Reply

Well the first thing would be to tell us where you are shipping your clothes from lol but looking at your email address I would bet Ireland. Depending how much you have it might be cheaper to take them as excess baggage with you on the plane or if you have more than a couple of extra suitcases full then we can give you a quote on that. We will drop you an email and be in touch, cheers The Moving Dr

    Hello,
I have one big suitcase full of clothing to send from Chicago to Lisbon, Portugal. Around 60 pounds.
On my way there, i will be doing two other stops before i arrive in Lisbon so, taking this extra weight with me on a flight is not a possibility.
What would be the cheapest way to send it there? I don’t mind if it takes longer. I could wait up till 45 days for it to arrive.
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi,

I’m renovating a house in France (I’m a french citizen). I am interested in buying quite a bit of furniture in the US and shipping it over. I k now a number of sites (Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc) offer that as an option but it still incredibly expensive. Would sharing a container be the better solution? Do you have any other suggestions?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Natasha

Hello Natasha, most large stores will deliver free of charge to an export warehouse. As long as we know what is going to come in and the store put our booking number on all the pieces coming in so we can receive consolidate and ship everything together then our price from our terminal in Charleston SC to door France would be $11.26 per cubic foot. Hope that helps and email me move@upakweship.com if you want to discuss further or call 1 866 868 6386
You will have to pay vat and duties on your new purchases though in Europe which is calculated on the Cost of the goods, Insurance value, and the Freight charge which is commonly called the C.I.F value

    Hi There

We are looking at purchasing a vintage mixing console from Yorkton (Saskatchewan, Canada) and would like to have it freighted to Fremantle Western Australia. It would come in two crates (each approximately 300lbs each) and being approximately 70 cubic feet for each. We are seeking some advice on the most practical, safe and economic way of having it delivered. Time is not a major issue.
