    Hi
I am hoping to visit France next year (2013) and am planning to ship back bric a brac or similar items that I hope to pick up while fossicking in the famous fleamarkets around Paris.

    Do you know of
1.A reputable company in Paris which might provide such a service? In particular shipments from France (Paris) to Australia (Sydney).
    2. What sort of things do I need to consider.
    3. What is required to guarantee that the goods reach their destination.
    4. Any relevant information or useful contacts /services would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Hello, we are moving from Barcelona to Miami and have about 10 boxes – some heavier than others. Size – 45cmx45cmx45cm. And one bench, it’s long, I can take off the legs so that it’s dimensions are narrow – 190cmx60cmx15cm. Can you give me a sense of cost?
    Thanks

Hi Doc–I’m moving from Indianapolis, IN to Broadstairs, England and I’d like to get pricing on shipping my clothes and some belongings–including customs, etc. I’m open to either door-to-door or picking up at terminals, whatever is cheaper–just need to know where they’re located on both ends! I’m thinking 18x18x18 boxes?

    Thank you!

    Katie

Posted at 17:59h, 03 July Reply

Hi Katie, I think I saw a quote request come in from you that we replied to on email. I suggest to save money you drop off at our terminal in Indianapolis but get it delivered to your door in Broadstairs. If you go with the to door service everything is inclusive. If you take a cheaper option that’s just to a terminal say in London it looks like you might be saving money but by the time you travel to a terminal in London and pay all the port, terminal, customs and hand over fees your not saving anything and wasted a whole day traveling and used up petrol at 6 pounds a gallon or whatever it is! so a box 18x18x18 inches in 3.3 cubic feet. We have a lump sum price of $654 for up to 30 cubic feet from terminal Indianapolis to anywhere in England so that’s equivalent to 9 boxes of that size. If you had up to 50 cubic feet or 15 boxes of that size the rate goes up to $860 all inclusive. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr

roughly how much should it cost to send a 6x10x6′ stack of boxes from Los Angeles Californis to Rime, Italy? All just personal items from my storage unit. I am a resident in iItaly now. Thank you, Ann

    • The Moving Doctor
Posted at 18:04h, 03 July Reply

Hello Ann, our rate for a stack of boxes 6x10x6feet = 360 cubic feet. If you dropped these off at our terminal in Los Angeles our rate through to your door in Rome is $14.66 per cubic foot or $5277
That probably sounds a lot but to be honest 360 cube of boxes is a lot, most shipments of boxes are around 100 cubic feet which would = $1466 which probably sounds a little better 🙂

    Hello,

I would like a price on shipping clothes and a few household items from Atlanta, GA to Valencia, Spain. My family and I are moving there. We are taking every little, maybe 5- 10 boxes 18 x 18 x 24 at most. I think the US post office might be best as to avoid having to deal with customs with very limited Spanish. I do not care if we ship in boxes, crates, etc and I am in no rush for the items. Can you help?

    Thank you,

You can try the post office but you have to ship each box separate and I don’t think there is any tracking system either but worth looking into! Our price for up to 30 cubic free which is about 5 suitcases full or 10 3 cubic foot boxes from our terminal in Atlanta to your door in Spain including customs is $843.00 all inclusive or add on $125 for front door collection. I will email you these prices, hope that helps, cheers The Moving Dr

I have purchased an antique ice box with an interesting history on ebay, from a couple in England. They specified pick up only, but I convinced them to let me bid. The Wenham Lake Ice Box was originally from a company in London owned by an entrepreneur from Massachusetts, where I live, overlooking Wenham Lake. The ice from the lake was shipped from Massachusetts to England and beyond in the mid 19th century, before commercial refrigeration. Queen Victoria, and hence anyone in British society, had to have Wenham Lake ice on their table. Wenham Lake is now our water supply, and so we in a couple of Massachusetts towns are the only ones who can still say they use the once famous Wenham Lake ice.

Great story, huh? The folks from whom I bought it thought so, too. So now I have this ice box, about 60 cm on each side, wood with zinc lining , therefore heavy, not sure how, perhaps 25 or 3o kg? and have to figure out how to get it to me in Massacchuestts. I have a friend in Holland and Prague who could take and store it for a couple of years until they return here to the US, and bring it with them. (They are our neighbors on Wenham Lake, currently living abroad.) Or, if reasonable could have it shipped here. What advice do you have?? Hope you had a great honeymoon, and look forward to hearing back! Joanna

Hello Joanna, how interesting! I would look into seeing if you can wrap it up well in bubble wrap and then cover it in cardboard. Then try getting quotes from the Post Office, DHL and UPS You don’t actually mention the dims or the weight but it doesn’t sound very big or heavy so I’m thinking this would be the best solution for you. Hope that helps if not message me again, cheers The Moving Dr

    Hi Moving Doctor,
We are wanting to pack our belongings into a twin axle fully enclosed trailer (approx 8′ x 4′ in size) approx 4 cum. and ship it on a roll on roll off basis from Perth Austraila to the UK.
We are at the feasibility/possibility stage and would like to know the likely Cost of doing roll on roll off, any Customs issues we are likely to encounter (UK end regarding personal items) and what the process is likely to be and do you think there is a better way of doing this.
Thank you for your time and a cool web site.

Posted at 15:37h, 28 June Reply

Hi Tony, you should be able to do this yourself. Try Googling Wallenius who run the Ro Ro ships and call their local office in Fremantle and they should be able to help you and give you a price. They may not allow things in the trailer though in which case you will have to load it into a shipping container. There will not be any customs issues in UK if all items were bought over 6 months ago and you have lived outside of the EC for the last 12 months. Let me know how you get on, cheers The Moving Dr

It is going from zip code 77098 to zip code 90230.

My son will be travelling from the Hartford, CT area to Prague, Czech Republic around 4-Sep-2013 for a college term abroad. He wants to travel light on the way over and travel for 7-10 days before his college classes begin in Prague on 13-Sep. Thus, he doesn’t want to carry his main suitcase around Europe during this time before classes begin.

My questions are (I’m looking for the least expensive way):

    1) What would it cost to ship a 50 pound suitcase from Hartford, CT to Prague, Czech Republic?

    2) When should it be shipped so it can arrive in Prague on 13-Sep?

Hello Tony, if you are moving furniture and your library I would suggest our door to door self load and unload 20 foot container service. Its a lump sum price and there is no weight limit which is good when shipping lots of books! We could stop at 2 places in Leeds so that you could unload at one and then the other, just make sure when you load the container you sort the load into 2 areas so you easily know what to unload at each address. Stephanie in our office can quote you for this service and she will contact you by email. Cheers The Moving Dr

    Hi,
Just wondering if you have any info about shipping personal items (approx. 3cbm) from Brisbane to Toronto.
Have had a wide range of quotes from companies who say they do “door to door” but Canadian customs mentions that we have to collect our items when they reach Toronto, so I’m not sure if I’ve picked it up wrong or if they don’t allow a company to bring the items through?
Also is it possible to do it yourself? Buy a crate/container, pack it yourself and then get it shipped somehow or does it have to be done via a shipping company? Not in any hurry for our items once we’re in Canada so just trying to find the most cost effective but secure way!
Thanks in advance for any advice 🙂

    • The Moving Doctor
Posted at 19:46h, 25 June Reply

Hello Lisa, I believe you have to go to the customs terminal and present yourself in order to get your shipment cleared through customs. Once you have completed the paperwork etc you would then have a choice of either collecting your things or letting the moving company collect it from customs and delivering it to you, depending on what service you paid for. Yes you can buy a crate, pack and load it, use a company to ship it then do your own customs clearance at destination and collect your crate. Hope that helps, cheers The Moving dr

    Hello

    Hope you have/ had a great honeymoon!!Congrats!
My boyfriend and I are moving from NYC to Berlin this July. We will mostly have a few big bags or boxes we would like to ship over there. No furniture, just some small household items, books, clothes.
Could you give me some information on who could do that for us and how much it would probably cost? We probably could send some items later/ not time sensitive.

Thank you very much for your help!!

    Best, Julia

Hi, just wondering how much it wld cost to move a large household of stuff from Brisbane Australia to Utah USA? Do u provide various sized shipping containers we can pack household into and if so how much does this cost? R there any other fees we need to be aware of? How long does transit usually take? Would it be more cost effective to sell and rebuy furniture rather than move it all? Thanks

    Hello,

I am in the military and need to ship my household goods from florida to Germany, and I am looking for the closest price quote you can do. 2 bedroom house and living room, no dining room or bathroom or anything. Not much actually. Do you come to the house for a quote or how exactly is the process done? Thank you for your time

Hello Andrew, first of all thank you for your service. My step daughter is a marine and has served overseas and I know its not easy and money can be tight. We will give you a military discount after seeing your ID as well.
If you have furniture I suggest a self load 20ft container would be the way to go. If you just want to ship personal items then our U Box is probably the best value and safest way to ship. I will get Stephanie in our office to contact you regarding the container and the U Box prices are on our web site under services. Thanks The Moving Dr

    Hello,
I am currently wanting to move my stuff from Latvia Riga to Greece Athens, I am shipping approximately 10 cubic meters according to the surveys the moving company has made at my place.
I would love to know your prices, as i am scouting for the cheapest prices possible.
Look forward for your reply 🙂

Sorry we don’t have a service on this route. As a side note as much as we always try and have the best prices, in general the cheapest prices possible normally mean there is something missing and hidden in the small print there could be mention of extra charges for things not included. Be very careful making your decision on price alone!

We need to move a few boxes of books, clothes, and personal items (no furniture) from France to Indianapolis. We’d like the least expensive option. Thanks!

    Hello
I am looking to get a quote from you and what would be the cheapest way to get my belongings from New York/Long island City to London.
Everything is packed and labeled.I saw you offer a version to fill your own container I woud need a 20ft container.
However this is NYC and I dont have the possibility to just put it somewhere overnight.
Do you have a facility that I could coem to with my mover and we load in there ?
I am looking to do that by the end of June already
Would very appreciate a timely respons or email
    Thank you
    Daniela

Hello Daniela, I suggest we bring the container to your local movers warehouse and they load it at their facility. We can then ship it to London for you. I will get Stephanie in our office to contact you and then give you some pricing options, cheers The Moving Dr

Hello Christina, I would just take a couple of extra suitcases on the plane with you but if this is not feasible our air agent can quote you a door to door price, cheers and enjoy your trip, The Moving Dr
