What do expats take in their suitcases when traveling home?

So I guarantee that every expat Brit that visits the UK takes roughly the following back in their suitcase or at least variations on this theme.

Unless allergic, every Brit will return with good old Cadburys chocolate in some shape or form and if there are any kids in their lives, probably some chocolate buttons, milky bars and possible jelly babies! Marks and Sparks undies are popular as are Boots toiletries and cosmetic stuff. Personally I normally end up with at least something with a Union Jack on it, be it a sticker, key ring, socks or tacky picture of a London Bus or similar.

So what about the other way around I wonder? What do Americans take? I recently asked an American colleague that lives in London who goes by the clever name of  “Sunny in London” what does she take back to the UK after a visit to the USA. I stock up on Michael Kors boots, bags and clothes plus tons of scented candles and soaps from Yankee Candle! My husband bought tons of trainers and jeans while here and beach bar t-shirts so he could make his friends envious in London!

I’m not sure if Sunny and Husband are on diets or this just goes to prove that Cadburys really is better chocolate but I thought the difference in one’s suitcase contents was an interesting contrast.

I wonder if Airport Security when checking suitcases say “that’s a Brit” “that’s an American” etc….

Of course if you are shipping more than a couple of suitcases, who do you call?
