Moving to Kepler186f
NASA has recently discovered a new planet called Kepler186f which from what I can understand is about 500 light years away but is in the habitable zone of another star. I might be a Moving Doctor but I’m not really sure what that all means but it sounds to me like there could be life there Jim, but not as we know it (I have always wanted to say that! )
So this got me thinking about the future. What if we could inhabit another planet? What would the accommodation be like? What would we take? How long would it take to get there?
Well duh, of course UPakWeShip would be on the front line getting a shipping service established but wait, would it be a shipping service as in space ship service or would we call it a rocket service and seeing our favorite color is red would it be named the Red Rocket service?
What would you take to another planet? Presumably electronics wouldn’t work and be so small by then that you would wear your lap top on your wrist. Your sleep number bed or 5 year old sofa wouldn’t look right in your new Space Pod so I’m thinking may be some artwork, clothes and my trusty wine bottle opener would do it!
What sort of people would be moving to the planet? Corporate Personnel relocating from the likes of Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed and may be Apple or Facebook or convicts like the British Government sent to Australia back in the old days or may be people wanting to escape or be free from religion?
How long would it take you and your shipment to get there? Would you be able to chat to the person next to you? I have had all sorts next to me on planes over the years, the religious person praying, the none stop drinker that fell over in the aisle and couldn’t get up, a man that sold Faberge eggs and had made jewelry for The Queen, and I could go on with many other interesting characters, but what if the trip took weeks or even months to get there? How many movies and walks to the bathroom could you take and how many bags of pretzels would have to be loaded on the ship / rocket?
Lastly what sort of company names would the movers call themselves? I’m not sure Kepler186f Relocation is a winner!
Thoughts?
