I’m Fat!

I’m Fat!

Maybe I’m not the only one who has turned the COVID 20lbs into a near COVID 50lb increase in the past 18 months? I must admit with so much doom n gloom, there wasn’t much else to do but eat and drink.
But like all good things, I realized this can’t go on forever, so here I am trying to do something about it.
After various visitors, and some cheeky trips were completed, it was time to get back on it without the gin and tonic!
I decided to buy one of these diet meal plans so that I didn’t have to worry about how to not cook in cream or fry everything.
The first couple of weeks went well, lost a good amount of pounds but then the Logistics Devil struck!
The courier responsible for delivering my meals according to their tracking decided it looked nice in their warehouse for numerous days I guess, so when I got it a week later there was no dry ice left, nothing was frozen anymore so it had to go straight in the trash and by this time I am now out of my meals!

The first things that came into one’s mind were, well they better fix it right now, I need a refund, shall I change companies, and OMG they are useless, this has ruined my whole diet plan, I need a Gin and Tonic!

But then the slightly smaller logical side of my brain kicked in and said to me, apart from don’t go for the Gin bottle, it’s not their fault if the courier company messed up. We all have to rely on other partners in the logistics chain. I am not sure why it got stuck and probably the diet food company doesn’t know either but I reminded myself, Covid is causing havoc with the truck drivers we all rely on. Many of our regular trucking vendors are anything from 3 to 10 people short due to Covid. On top of this everyone knows there is pretty much a truck driver shortage everywhere in the world. If the diet food company is anything like UPakWeShip, their staff are probably extremely busy, doing their best and could really do with some more staff but no one extra is available to work right now.

At the end of the day, it got sorted out, no one died, it wasn’t such a big deal and I received a new box of food a few days later.

So please remember everyone, when the logistics devil strikes again, and it will, the company I’m sure is doing everything they can to fix the problem, and the staff member is doing their best with the tools they have.

The world is a different place right now and not the same as it was a couple of years ago. There is a huge trucking shortage, shipping lines are at full capacity, rate increase are going through the roof, and everyone who can or wants a job is working! We must all learn to accept this and do the best we can without getting too frustrated or taking it out on someone who probably did not have any control over the logistics issue in the first place!

On a positive note, at least the employee showed up for work if you are talking to them. You don’t know however how they may have been affected by Covid. Let’s all remain patient and do our best and as the Brits used to say, Keep Calm and have a cup of tea!
