Moving Overseas with Guns
With all the news about gun control or not, i thought it would be a good time to discuss your options if you are moving overseas and want to or think you can take your collection with you!
First of all bear in mind most other countries have much stricter gun control rules than the USA so the chances are the country you are moving to will not allow your guns into their country. Do check with your host country customs web site or call their consulate to see if you are allowed to import guns or ammunition before you go any further.
If you are sure you are allowed to bring your gun or any other dangerous weapon into the country the next thing is to figure out how to get it there. Before we go any further read these next two sentances.
1/ The mover is not licensed to ship your guns.
2/ you can not take them on the plane with you.
Youd be suprised how many times we have been asked, can we add our guns to our shipment. The answer is NO. We could loose our license if we did so. In fact we, like many others have a direct contact with homeand security and if we feel something is not right or we are being asked or suspicious that we are shipping something we shouldnt be, we will report you!
We have had potential customers say to us, well your competitor will ship my guns why wont you?
We wont be bullied! We would rather loose the job than break the law.
The only legal way you can ship guns overseas is by using a licensed gun dealer. You can google them and find a local agent near you…..even so it will be costly and take time to get licenses and permits in place before you will be allowed to ship them.
The sensible thing would probably be to leave them behind but store them somewhere very safe under lock and key please.

Posted at 12:52h, 12 AugustHello Debbie, thanks for the question. There are very strict rules about shipping firearms as well as strict rules about importing them into most Countries.
Normal moving and shipping companies are not licensed to ship firearms and if Customs found a firearm in your shipment you old get into big trouble so my advice is as follows:
Find a firearms supplier / broker / store who is licensed to ship them.
Check with the airline to see if you are allowed to carry with you.
Check with the country you are moving to and see what their regulations say about bringing in firearms.
For example if you were moving to the UK, your firearms would have to be kept in a bonded safe secure area at your expense until you could prove to customs you had the right license in the UK to have a firearm at home.
Most countries overseas have very strict rules about firearms. Check the destination rules about import before thinking of shipping.
Cheers
