Why Move to Spain?

I did say I’ll come back to visit the why move overseas to Spain question, so here goes.

Why Spain for us? You are probably thinking Sunshine, Tapas and Sangria right. Yes, well that is pretty much it but obviously, there is a little more to it than that. I am not going to share all our personal reasons but looking for a healthier life style with a cheaper cost of living is definitely a major factor. We had considered Panama at one stage then Costa Rica but after our second trip traveling all over Costa Rica, we decided the Pura Vida was not for us.
Here is our top 10 reasons of why move to Spain. It is not in any particular order. For those that are counting, I didn’t include using UPakWeShip as a top 10 reason to move to Spain although it obviously makes sense.

The weather: For anyone that has to suffer cold and ice in the winter, the weather is one of the major reasons for moving to Spain. The southern coast typically enjoys around 320 days of sunshine a year.

Al fresco lifestyle: Given Spain’s climate, a great deal of time can be spent outdoors, whether dining or just having a coffee down the street, soaking up the sun on the beach or enjoying outside activities, like swimming, boating or fishing.
Food and drink: Spain has a rich food culture with numerous great dishes. Fresh fruit, vegetables and fish are in great supply. Washed down with Cava, Sangria or Rioja is a must!

Cost of living: Compared to many other European countries, Spain tends to have a lower cost of living. Purchases such as wine, many grocery items, gas, and restaurant food are all cheaper in Spain than in most of Europe.

Why Not: We have the opportunity to explore a new country, experience a new culture, learn a new language so why not grab the bull by the horns (pardon the Spanish pun) and try it.

Healthcare: Spain’s healthcare system has been rated among one of the best in the world. The W.H.O rated it 7th in the world. Hospitals are modern, well equipped and staffed by skilled doctors.

Good transport links: There are extensive air routes, railways, ports and roads in Spain that make the country an excellent base for travel around Europe. Not only does this make it a fairly easy place to get to, it also means we can get back to the USA or UK with ease and without breaking the bank!

Immigration: Having a British passport hopefully enables us to move to Spain easily if completed before Brexit. So we have been advised!

Worldwide Shipping UPakWeShip  Communications: As we will still be working and having the same responsibilities as we do in the USA, we need a base with good phone and internet coverage.

Siestas: While we may have to get used to businesses closing for a few hours in the afternoon, I think we will soon love the excuse to stay at home and worry about running errands later.

International Mover: Yes, we know UPakWeShip will be moving us there with their award winning customer service, no hassle door-to-door service with no cheeky extras and at the best price possible. Hopefully the moving doctor gets a staff discount as well!

More Later!

Cheers, The International Moving Doctor.
