Macs Moving Facts! Licensing

Always check that the moving company you are thinking of choosing is licensed.

In the USA, by law if you want to be involved in shipping household goods overseas, you must have an FMC license. That stands for Federal Maritime Commission. You can got to their web site www.FMC.gov and look up the mover to check they are licensed. https://www2.fmc.gov/oti/FF.aspx

Do not proceed in choosing a mover in the USA without an FMC number.

An FMC licensed international mover must pass rigorous testing and have financial bonds in place to give customers financial protection.

If there is any dispute with your International mover, you can contact the FMC’s dispute resolution service.

The Office of Consumer Affairs and Dispute Resolution Services (CADRS) is an impartial resource that assists the maritime industry and the shipping public resolve ocean shipping problems through an informal and voluntary process (i.e., ombuds services).

Most other countries have similar associations, for example in the UK there is the British association of Movers. https://bar.co.uk/

Bottom line choose a government licensed International moving and shipping company like www.upakweship.com
